What kind of improvement in frame rate did you get.. 2, 3 frames more a second? and if I'm not mistaken, isn't the x800 Pro an AGP GPU with 256 Mb of DDR.

My Graphics card is an x700 Pro PCI-express. Not to sure of the difference between mine and yours (graphics card that is)?

I'll deploy 2 new machines later today and compare an AGP versus a PCIE and see what kind of results I get...

I installed these last night and I have not encountered any problems. My frame rate seemed a bit higher in Half Life 2 and Doom 3. I also tested the new drivers with Star Wars Battlefront and Unreal Tournament 2004 and those also ran fine. I have an X800 Pro.

I found the best solution to installing drivers for ATI is at the install point when I am configure a system for the first time. I use a minimum of ATI's packages and to be honset the most recent version Control Panel has a pretty cool interface tp select from OpenGL or Direct 3D.

My only advise is to reduce problems eliminate overhead when first configuring a system.

Still with all this wind I'm wasting it's obvious ATI doesn't have a good wrap on it's own API or 3D calculations.

Nvidia takes the cake.

That Control Center was an awful idea. Whoever made that should be shot. I'll be sticking to the control panel

Maybe now with a new .NET patch and a new ATI driver the control center will actually work. With a base .NET install and the control center everything worked fine...right up until the 1.1 .NET patch at which point you can no longer access the driver options.

Guess I'll give 'em a whirl tomorrow, and see if they improve KotOR 2 performance. Problem is, I'll have to actually stop playing KotOR 2 in order to do this; heck I'm already starting to shake.

Well, artifacts all over is a heating issue...

But just text was...it was a semi-recurring issues with one toggle or option. It was either something to do with AA/AF or...some text/cursor option you could do.

It has been a long time since I have had my ATI card that had those issues. Just try the new drivers; I suspect they will clear it up.

Does anyone know what might be the problem if my card starts leaving small artifacts (like little underlines near text, and occasional small little - thingies) over my screen when I turn it on?

I noticed it for the first time yesterday, and now today it showed up again in KOTOR2. If my card was going cranky, you'd think it would happen all the time, not just with AF? (Then again, I don't know that much about graphics)

I'm running the 4.11, was this like a known issue with it, or something? If anyone has any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it.

I guess I'll be upgrading that driver tomorrow, see if that'll help. Dammit, the 4.11s ran great on everything. Watch it take ATI another 8 months to release the next driver that will work fine.

I just purchased an ATI PCIE x700 GPU lastweek with 256 mb DDR and I was short of being surprised, it wasn't the significant jump in performance I was expecting. If anything, it was anti-climatic.

I wasted $700.00 dollars on a combined Shuttle XPC 8500 G
PIV 3.0 Ghz
1 Gb DDR
160 Gb SATA HDD

Not to mention the new UAA Update microsoft has supposedly enhanced with KB835221 is a joke with 3DMark2005. I get 15 frmaes a sec and no digital audio. WTF.

i had to roll back my drivers after installing the last release, they ruined framerates, caused crashing and lots of other aggrivating problems. i'm sure i wasnt alone and many others had similar difficulties.
