The Matrix Online Movies

The Matrix Online Website now offers downloads of a set of four new training videos ("I know Kung Fu!") from Monolith's upcoming MMORPG. The movies demonstrate close-combat, advanced close combat, free fire combat, and hacker combat. Word is: "The combat in these videos has been slowed down so that players can understand how each phase works. In the live game, each combat round actually takes about 2 seconds so players will really need to be on their toes. Additionally, there are many times when players will be facing multiple opponents and hence forced to react to multiple attacks." The movies are mirrored on 3D Gamers and Filerush (torrent).

Yeah. Hell yes.

The game IS really fun. However, if they don't start the show with two months' content ready, i'm out. That's what happened to SWG - they were more concerned with getting it out the door, but there was no content.

This title actually has a solid writing team writing content (or so they say). If there isn't content streamining in after launch, i'm gone.

I couldn't disagree more...I'm in the beta. I've been playing consistently since the beginning along with a few of my friends and we're really digging it. It may not be for everyone but it's much more than amount clothing. I've enjoyed some seriously kick-ass fighting.

I am currently in the beta I have maybe played a total of 10 hours for the last few months.

The only 2 things of interest in this game are the clothing, and dueling nothing else.

Unless they add some major fun content (which I doubt will happen) this game is going to die a very quick death.

I had the misfortune of being accepted as a tester for this worthless PoS. Needless to say, I didn't last long, but perhaps it's come on in leaps and (skyscraper-bridging) bounds since then.

...the problem is just that they're all centered on levels and artificially extended advancement (treadmill). I mean the one idea that should immediately jump out at anyone when they know they can get thousands of people playing simultaneously is: huge wargames. And besides the screwups who made Planetside and WW2 Online, who is doing it? No one. No, there is no point to an MMO, but what is the point in an online FPS? Red team will never beat blue team, the fun is in the battles. MMO's offer a chance to make those battles on a grand scale with persistant characters that advance, are highly customizeable, and exist in a huge world where players can control territory and conceive thousands of strategies for blowing up enemies using hundreds of different weapons and vehicles........

In a nutshell, you've probably just summarized the premise of World of Warcraft: Battlegrounds. If you're interested, take a look at the two-part preview at the official site - it's shaping up to be very promising.

The bad guys in the game do not get any "badder" lookin as you go along. Most of the time you will attack somebody thinking its lower level when its infact high level.

Level grinds, kill 10 rats quests, no real way to affect our change your environment, and if you're really unlucky having a bad day and dying negates a weeks worth of 'work' that should have been 'play' in the first place.

Stupid stupid stupid.

I concur. Really, the only driving force behing MMORPGs is greed. Players want to get all the best items and reach the highest levels first so that they can have bragging rights. If you took away leveling, nobody would play MMORPGs because the actual gameplay is mundane and tedious.

Very philosophical. Art imitates life. I really need to resist downloading this because I'm one of the gullible ones who'll think "That looks cool!" and buy the game

I spoke with someone who said they were in the Beta, and that they didn't like it very much.

And yeah, I kinda figured that the lack of a satisfying conclusion to the movie trilogy would put a damper on any post-trilogy products, such as the MMORPG.

I'm certainly not gonna play it. The movies had a bad aftertaste.

There's no point to ANY MMORPG. You might have fun playing them, but there is no endgame, there is no ultimate conclusion, there is no meaning whatsoever, just increasing meaningless counters in some database somewhere, all the while forking over $15 a month to a bunch of untalented retards who can't think of anything better to create than a game that has absolutely no point whatsoever ...

Matrix is a one trick pony. Watching cool fighting till you get bore dof it.

It's not a bad MMORPG. They've done some interesting stuff with the combat, which makes it much more fun than other MMO's i've played.

It's toast. They may as well just scrap it now.

This game is going to have about 10 people playing it at any one time.

Ok, ok. Maybe not 10.

15?
