The promised new Darwinia demo is
now available on the Darwinia
Downloads Page, offering the same gameplay as the previous sample of
Introversion's evolutionary action/strategy game (story), along
with the promised detailed tutorial (story) to help players
understand their goals. the update also addresses "Failed to get CPU Vendor" and
"Couldn't open registry value" errors that plague certain systems.

IIRC it's the darwinian upgrade that gives them guns. I'm pretty sure you're right in what you thought the laser upgrade does.
Is that what the laser upgrade does?
I just assumed that it increased the range of the squad's lasers. Hm. Gonna have to try that!

This game has moved to the top of my most-wanted list. I loved getting lasers for the little green guys. Get yourself a huge horde of strapped-up green guys and march them into a mess of red squiggly things. It's a massacre.
Very interesting game... could use a save feature however X)
Dang, I was hoping they'd put out a new level. I played the first demo more than I'll readily admit to, just because I wanted to try out the different upgrades.
Sadly this game is going to take a backseat as I relapse into a KotOR addiction in a couple of days. Just remember, I didn't fall of the wagon, I jumped.

Easily the classiest game (sorry... demo) I've played for a while. But I think anyone under 20 won't get the Tron references and the retro graphics.
And hey, it's not a WWII shooter!

Hopefully the tutorial will help. It was a little... confusing.
