That game only had one good level. Did anybody even play the other levels?

I was always kind of fond of the last mission along with the one about half-way through where you fight Boba Fett. The game was pretty cool when I was twelve anyway.

Well, I actually liked the demo--thought it was pretty fun and enjoyed the squad-based commands (much more useful than those in RB6 and the like). I did have a number of stability problems, with a few random crashes and tearing when I changed the resolution. And I agree that the weapons sounds were more than a little enemic. I also thought the primary weapon ran out of ammo WAY too quickly to the point it practically becomes useless and I just relied on picking up enemies weapons all the time. But, I liked it, and I think without a multilevel demo it's difficult to judge it on content and immersion factor.

I also think Academy shouldn't be in a list of best SW games. The Rebel Assault series should be in there, as well as the N64 game Shadows of the Empire. I also liked the SNES games, altough I don't think many people will agree with me on those.

Honestly, I didn't think it was all that bad. Pretty decent by Star Wars standards.

I agree with the earlier posts - the weapons lack the "Oomph" sound effects that I was hoping for. But the graphics were pretty, the game seemed pretty polished, and I liked the simplicity of issuing squad commands.

I'll probably pick it up . . . when I get tired of WoW. =)

Played the demo and finished it last night. I wont be buying the full game. The game lacked depth and the mood was much too light-hearted and tongue-in-cheek.

Dark Forces was great.
Jedi Academy sucked.

And this game needs more bass.

That's all I have to say 'bout that.

Firstly the instalelr wont run for me unless i pick windows 2000 compatibility mode, then I have to sit through some tedious 'intro' screens i cant skip, then i get a load of plot bullshit (if I want plot ill read a book this is an FPS), then I have to endure a laod of crappy americanese 'buddy talk' from my fellow clones.
And on top of it all the demo level is too dark and too like any other FPS.
Back to Sid Meiers Pirates! for me.

People think it's console-itis because of the extremely small areas. It's very similar to Deus Ex Invisible War and Red Faction 2. Console games seem to use this system to reduce high polycounts that are required to fill up the large-scale areas that are typical for PC games. I really, really hate the small areas of console games. The only time it was tolerable was in Chronicles of Riddick, where it was fine because you were in a prison! I guess it works fine with games like Thief and Splinter Cell, too.

More bass! Weapons sound were so weak, but maybe cause they are so weak? Otherwise I liked the game, cool hud, commands, lots of action, team chatter that doesnt get repetitive.

...but maybe I dont hate this game cause there simply arent any other right now. Everything good was released back in 2004.

While I will agree the weapon sounds need to be beefed up, the weapons are not weak at all. Learn to aim and use the iron sites (zoom key). A single shot to an exposed head will take down an enemy with the Blaster. If you shoot them in their armor...yes it is going to take most of your clip to get a kill. So like I said, learn to aim.

As for it suffering from consolitis...it does if you use the default settings. Turn off the helmet, and change the Tactical view (default X) so it doesnt have the extra stuff on screen. You can also turn off the glow around your teammates in the options.

It shouldn't look like a console game anymore.

They all feel the same, rather weak. That shotgun like weapon? come on, give us a real shotgun blast effect, sound and damage.

another game that will take some community genius to re-code into something worth while *sigh*

I didn't like it. I did like the helmet view and being able to heal your buddies. The menu music was cool. The gameplay was weak. The sound effects were also weak. They needed more bass! I only played this demo for about 15 minutes.

Oh, and why can't I skip the friggin introduction? ARGH!

Disappointing. This is far too console-ish. I was really looking forward to this. There are some interesting aspects to it but it just feels very cheesy. Speaking of cheesy, wtf is up with those wooky models ? Those are the worst models that I've ever seen in a SW game. The whole can't be killed aspect of you and your team also got old and cheesy very fast. I even tried emptying all clips into one of the unconcious guys and still couldn't kill him.

I liked Battlefront and was fairly hopeful about this. I was expecting the biggest problem to be weak, inefectual weapons but... bleh.

Actually in a somewhat recent interview he said that once he is done with Episode 3, he himself won't make anymore Star Wars movies, but said he will leave it for others to continue.

Was a vague statement, but it's quite possible that he is going to allow other people to make future Star Wars movies.

Ever since I saw what Peter Jackson did with the LOTR trilogy, I have been hoping that Lucas would croak. Jackson knows what he is doing with a big budget epic film series. If Lucas has half of a brain, he will tap Jackson to do 7-9 in a single shoot style a la LOTR. It will never happen (Lucas is some sort of retarded idiot...I know, I didnt think someone could be both either), but we can dream cant we?

Oh, and episode III will suck. I and II did, no reason to think otherwise at this point.

It was mentioned that Lucasfilms or some brand of Lucas's empire was going to be moving into live action tv specials/series or something to this affect.

Overall the demo is not bad, but the weapons need a bit more oommph to them sound wise. Hopefully the full game will have some more open areas as the tight corridor feeling just didn't seem to do the demo justice.

But Multiplayer seems like it will be fun.
