But when I got thrown out of that helicopter in mutantland with that rifle and a few rounds, until I reached that mounted machine gun in the crashed chopper I don't remember my heart pounding so much for a game. I concur. Still haven't finished it though. I'm in the last level with Krieger (I think... it's been weeks). I killed him once, got a cutscene and dumped back into the action with 2 health. Not cool to skip an autosave after a cutscene. But I'll go back until it's done. I quit this impossible game half a dozen times but have gone back and got a little further (I don't console save, on principle.) Every time I was sure I'd never progress but the urge is there to keep pushing on.
Doom 3 is still installed as well, but I'm only about a third of the way through. Hoping for mods. Made me jump at first but after a while it was as entertaining as having somebody stand right in front of you and shout boo! every couple of minutes.
HL2 was okay but not really what I was hoping for after Far Cry. I remember one good set piece battle that wasn't just a pure walkover when you had to fight through a complex to open a gate to let your boat through and then fight your way back out. What I liked about that was the openess that's missing from most of the rest of the game. Too linear and team mates added nothing. Too many on-rails bits.
