But at least the best baseball game (imho) still has the license.

Then again, ESPN has signed a deal with EA, and now has no license for major league baseball in videogames, but ofcourse still has its TV license.

Somehow, someone in MLB didn't think about this very well. Because I'm guessing that ESPN is not very amused about having BOTH its sport franchises raped by the NFL and MLB in less than three months. And the only thing they can take it out on is MLB, since they have no televised deal with the NFL.

There used to be a time when we all got along, and just played really good games.

I thought my "EA buys NFL" would be taken sarcastically like I intended... Guess not. I know there's a lot more that goes into an exclusive agreement. In fact if you read it like I typed it, it would make me seem even sillier suggesting EA now owns the actual NFL.

Hah thanks for clearing that up Hirojin. I went to vicarious's site and when I got there I was like, "Why in the world did I come here?" I couldn't for the life of me figure out what made me type Vicarious Visions. I looked back and saw that it said Visual Concepts so I just assumed I was going crazy.

When are you paying that little for a studio like Visual Concepts, it seems like you are really just paying for the talent and maybe some pre-existing relationships.

The story says Take-Two acquired Vicarious Visions, which is a typo (Activision acquired them last week). Take-Two acquired Visual Concepts, as the story title says.

Again, EA didn't buy the NFL. It was a mutual agreement, just like the Take Two - MLBPA thing. The short-sighted sports business guys met with the deluded sports-game guys and concocted the deals, thinking them win-win situations.

Exactly what I was thinking Brym. $24 million for a company that threatened EA so much as to cause it to buy the entire NFL?

Anyone else think that the purchase price would have been a LOT higher without the Madden exclusivity deal? $24 million seems pretty damn low to me.
