Army Threatens Punks

Operation Punk Buster Continues is a post to the America's Army forums (thanks Slashdot) discussing cheating, PunkBuster countermeasures, ending with some threats:
Some of you (and clearly the bad guys are among them) don’t always remember that this game, and all accounts and derivative products, are the property of the United States Army. When you tamper with the game, not only are you breaking the EULA you’re misusing Army property – and, worse, you’re misusing US Army computer programs and equipment.

Tampering with software and servers owned or used by the Army is cyber crime.

In the early 1940’s, Japan learned an important lesson – “let the sleeping giant lie.” We may not react swiftly, but when we do it’s with unstoppable force. The Army has partners that deal with cyber crime as a matter of course. These include not just various Army IT departments, but also the Department of Justice, the Secret Service, and the Federal Bureau of Investigations.

It’s going to get uncomfortable for some of the bad guys, but you know what? They brought it on themselves. Knowing this anyone who continues to be bad is just plain foolish. Keep trying, though. Sooner or later the bad guy will realize we’ve known about him for a while… and by then it’s too late.

Allow me to speak directly to the bad guys for a moment: When you get banned, know that we know and have records showing you were doing something that’s a violation of terms of service, breaks your EULA, and also happens to be against the law. We know who you are, and can track down where you play from. We have incontrovertible proof you did something illegal. The Army is angry, and we’re coming for you.

If you know everything, you know nothing. If you know nothing, you know more than the man who knows everything.

Just a random statement i came up with. Sounds good don't it?

That's a rephrasing of an old proverb.

This thread is hilarious.

"Do these kids HONESTLY think they can make better political decisions than a trained politician? "

Who wrote this? Are you kidding me? There are no trained politicians. There are paid politicians. They make policy based on who will benefit them the most, be that money, votes, luxury items, special treatment, etc.

I wish politicians asked themselves, "Is this what's best for america?" because most of what seems to be getting changed these days has little to do with what is best for Americans and a lot more to do with special interests and corporations.

Read the Book: Who Rules America? Power and Politics
If you don't understand how the system works you won't ever be able to fix it.

"What i meant was that it was the complete other end of the scale. It wasn't a middle ground."

I see what your saying. Though it seems to me to be difficult to create a site dedicated solely to pointing out bias without seemingly being on the other end of the scale.

If you know everything, you know nothing. If you know nothing, you know more than the man who knows everything.

Just a random statement i came up with. Sounds good don't it? On the same sorta scale, have you ever been drawn the pie chart of knowledge? My dad drew it once at a dinner party.

Basically he draws a circle, then a ssmall segment saying "This is what you know you know." He then draws an equally small segment and says "This is what you know you don't know." He then points to the rest of the pie chart, a good 60% of it, and says "This is what you don't know you don't know."

I think it's a good little diagramitcal way to show people how in the grand scheme of things, they are actually as ignorant as someone else. If you have a lot of knowledge in one area, you have little to no knowledge in another. Whilst you might ridicule someone for not knowing the intracicies of politics, he might have such detailed knowledge on farming (a damn useful subject) that if a nuclear holocaust occurred, he would survive, whilst you would be stuck starving.

Well trashcan, would you rather be operated on by a corrupt and greedy surgeon, or an honest and kind gamer who doesn't know anything about medicine?

The surgeon (the HMO/hospital really) might charge you too much because they are greedy and corrupt, but the gamer is gonna kill ya.

You can't enlist in the Army with a GED...

Generally you can't just walk right on it and enlist with a GED like someone with an HS diploma, but like most things in any branch of the Army, it's waiverable.

Zen as disabled Vet myself, I will say what the military does now, and in the last 150 years has had nothing to do with perserving anything to do with freedom in the good old USA.

I would never send my kids off to fight in a forigen land. There is no honor in dieing in a land not home. I would also like to add that some of the most upstanding and patriotic people i've ever know have never served the military. Just because we were in the service does not make us any more of a citizen then others. We are not better then anyone else in other words.

This forum post is written by someone who barely got a GED, in other words a prefect military candidate.

You can't enlist in the Army with a GED...

Wrong I went in 89 and didnt even have a high school credit. I do know in about the mid 90's they might have started to change the rules. I got put on the TDRL in sept 95 and retired in sept 2000, so the rules could be alot differnt now.

You're obviously not in government service, and you likely don't hold a press badge anywhere, so how do you explain your finger on the pulse of the world?

'Cause he's tapped into the media that isn't owned by The Man, man. You know, shit like Uncle Crackpot's blog of TRUTH and Maoist People's Daily Liberation Chronicle! 'Cause shit like the BBC, PBS and the AP are all controlled by a coalition of plutocrats and are so right biased that the Man will just pull his wool over your eyes if you turn to it!

Go back to cnn moron

I'm obviously not a moron, gimp. I also don't tune into CNN for the real news, anymore than I watch Fox or MSNBC. I have friends in Maryland, Virginia, DC, and Chicago who keep me informed of real current events. I don't understand why you think you know the gist of the world's situation better than everyone else. You're obviously not in government service, and you likely don't hold a press badge anywhere, so how do you explain your finger on the pulse of the world? Do tell.

Riley. Keep it to yourself, man. I don't like personal attacks and your assumptions about both me and what was written in that thread are your own opinion, one i believe to be wrong. I made my original comment with no attempt to attack you. If you can't do the same, then keep your bullshit to yourself. You don't know me and you don't want to get into this with me, because let's face it, we're all ignorant about something -- unless you're claiming you know everything. Laugh. So fine. You want to call me ignorant, ok. I am. I know absolutely nothing about deep sea animals. You caught me.

It was a response to Malakai as he was critisizing the page for being too Fahrenhype and not Fahrenheit

I think you misunderstood that part. What i meant was that it was the complete other end of the scale. It wasn't a middle ground. I know it's a site trying to show all the bad press the Israeli's get, i'm not that ignorant.

However you seem to think that i might be blind to selective photography and the rest. I'm not. I hate the NSPCC adverts, and i hate those adverts on tv for us to donate money to the starving in Africa. Those are perhaps the most biased pieces of "journalism" i can think of. I would get into a debate about them but that'll take forever.

You may think im cold hearted and the rest but those adverts annoy me because they are just so damn selective. It's probably the only way it's going to work, but i don't like shock tactics. I've seen enough poverty and starvation and the like to just get sick of it (Been to UAE, Yemen, Oman, Venezuela and the like).

I do notice bias in articles and the rest, thats why i always try to look at both sides of the story, but after i've looked at facts over things i've been undecided upon, i usually side with one opinion on the matter.

oh my, the japanese did pearl harbour and then they replied by Hiroshima. This time around some kids are cheating in their videogame! the US government can not tolerate this any longer. if this matter is not resolved in 24 hours we wll have to nuke their hometown and maybe shoot their parents or at least bomb their home! I say it's a major threat to national security! let's put the fbi the cia and the nsa on it! they really have nothing better to do nowadays! if it's not enough let's call the CTU! if Jack Bauer cant do anything about that major breach in national security we will have no other solution than nuking the hometown of these punks! or maybe their homeland! uh wait..

Seriously I cant believe people are still playing that crappy little game, actually I cant believe people join the army because of a videogame! actually I cant believe people still join the army at all but that's another story

"If you believe that we'll leave their country as shattered as it stands now then you have no idea of the power of human spirit."

In fact I have unending faith in human spirit, however, I believe Iraq will be left in a complete shambles like, say, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Afghanistan, Nicaragua, Guatemala, Haiti, El Salvador... or any other country the USA has severely meddled in since ww2. History repeats itself, and will continue to do so. Life will go on, people will live, but do not kid yourself that the USA has any interest in overthrowing evil dictators (in fact they usually support them), nor freeing populace - there isn't a single example of the US "freeing" a populace from an "evil dictator" in the last 60 years. They aren't about to begin.

Better plan than domination? You are partly right, domination isnt as politically servicible as the upcoming reality: rigged election of a puppet regime.
