Retribution Unveiled

The Retribution Website (thanks Frans) has first details on Retribution, an upcoming first-person shooter in the works at independent developer U-235 Studios (seemingly unrelated to Jaguar developers U-235, likewise named for the isotope powering Little Boy, the first atomic bomb). Described as a "partly funded project" that "needs community help," here's a description of the game, which uses Artificial Studios' "Reality" engine:
Your father an CID (Criminal Investigation Division) officer killed for getting too close, your mother murdered in cold blood. You watched the entire thing, now you're out for revenge. Assemble a crew or go it alone, follow the trail and finally get your revenge. Take on the Navy, Marine corps, drug lords, armed cilivians and more.

This is *probably* how innovative games are going to be made from now on, a combination of volunteer and small funding from various donors. The big publishers certainly aren't interested in something that isn't a sequel or a tired forumula thing.

You'd think EA/MS/Activision, UBI etc would set aside a small fund to help groups like this out where the potential benefit could be huge but I guess unless they (big pubs.) can recoup their investment inside one fiscal quarter they don't give a shit.

Anyhow, I hope these guys do well, they show some balls. I like Balls.

wait.....
