I was kind of in the same boat, although once I got 'eyeshine' the game started to get much better. My biggest complaint is the engine. I have to crank things down to 640x480 to get a reasonable framerate with antialiasing.

The deal with the video settings and getting a good framerate is to do with the pixel shader setting. Select 2.0 or lower. DO NOT select the 2.0++. Athlon 64 FX-53 and 6800 GT 256mb and it played like crap with 2.0++ at 1280x1024...but if you drop it to 2.0 it plays fantastic, and in alot of ways looks better than Doom 3.

Personally I prefer nice textures with slight Bump Mapping rather than the D3 method of bump map everything to give flat walls shape.

Bronco, your site (braglio.com) was the only one I could remember, and I checked it after a day or so, hoping to find out something. Perhaps you or nin could provide some type of backup that at least could tell us what happened. That way we don't have to assume that Blue is laying dead along side the road ....

It's funny - I gave him till Monday as I assumed that all of the techies were off for the holiday. When Monday rolled around I sent Blue a message letting him know I was worried.

I was in the dark until 9AM this morning just like the rest of you. Of course I was trapped in my house with the kids so I couldn't fret the situation like you all did.

Goes to show just how important this guy Blue is.

I hope there is never another shutdown like this but if there is and I have info I will post it to my weblog.

Y'know even at 640x480, with 4xAA the game looks not too bad. You might want to give it a second look.

My Nvidia is bad at shadowing so I had the same problem. I refuse to play in anything under 1024x768, so I uninstalled instantly.

My roomate liked it. PLayed all the way through.

So what is everyone's thought on Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay? I picked it up last night and to be perfectly honest I don't understand what the fuss is about. I suppose it is an effective genre blender but none of the individual genre gameplay components are any good. Anyone else let down or am I the only one?
