Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth Q&A

The Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth Q&A on Game Chronicles (thanks Frans) talks with Dennis Cheng about Bethesda Softworks' upcoming horror game: "For most of the game’s different objectives, we leave the method of achieving them more or less open-ended for the player. So for some players, running into a problem with guns blazing is the best solution. For some other players, they rather use stealth and puzzle solving to reach an objective. Ultimately, there is no right way or wrong way to play through the game. We’ve developed a very deep FPS combat system, so the combat experience will be fulfilling for action gamers. But we also balanced it out with equal parts of puzzle solving and stealth action for the gamers that prefer to use their brains."

"...puzzle solving and stealth action for the gamers that prefer to use their brains..."

These are the same poor people that constantly get fragged in Q3RA, wonder why, and then blame the game for being "mindless", hehe.

Yeah, we've heard that for a few years now...

Have they? I thought they were always claiming 2005 release on it. I've been trying not to follow too closely so I don't die of anticipation... Everything I've seen of the game so far looks great though. If they can manage to pull off the insanity system well, I'll be a happy camper.

But not entirely fair either, DNF has still been in production (if it can actually be called that)for much longer than COC: DCE. Besides that DNF was a sequel to an A-List title while Cthulhu and Lovecraftian games have had a short and troubled histroy. For that matter anything Lovecraftian has had a hard time because it's still seen as a cult phenomenon more than something that appeals to the mainstream.
That said I too wish they would finish the damn thing.
