There's also a bunch of DM fixes, including toning down the 357. It now takes 2 body shots to kill, not sure if 1 head shot will do the trick or not (100 health, no suit charge)

The overwatch map change, as far as I can tell, is that they added the board from the steps to the overwatch tower (by the RPG); you could walk across it before, but there was no visual tell-tale.

The Half Life 2 Benchmark 2 on guru 3d among others might delete your autoexec.cfg. Make sure you use the in app update before you run it.

On a side note this is the first time I've seen half life 2 for 10 days and have been playing TCOR:EFBB (PC) for the last few hours and have to say the riddick beats HL2 hands down. Story, immersion (you see yourself and your shadow looks around when you do), interaction (no more mute characters!) all coupled with a GFX engine easily on a par with Doom 3 or hl2.

The only thing thing that seems to be lacking is the pysics of HL2.

you gotta be kidding right? Riddick is a really really average game , with some vaseline on the textures. I mean it's not bad, but no where near as fun as HL2 Real-time lighting good game make does not. Doom 3 proved that....

Cy, I agree that Riddick is a fantastic game, it's amazing that a game this good can just sneak up on ya and not even get a quarter of the hype it deserves. They did a fantastic job porting this to the PC and they even added QUICK SAVE, I'm extremely impressed! I hope to see alot more from the developers of this game... As far as HL2 goes, it's awesome not to have to put the DVD in the drive anymore THANK YOU VALVE! Now that was my only complaint about the game so now it is as close to perfection as any game could ever be (as well as Riddick of Course)

The physics in HL2 is pretty fricken critical to its gaming goodness.

When's the last time graphics made a game fun?

Edit: Gamespot just gave riddick a 9.3. Higher than 9.2 for HL2. Hmmmm...

"They did a fantastic job porting this to the PC"

That's all I need to hear. Anything that needs "porting" to the pc is suspect in my book. I can't see this game with no multiplayer and taking 10 hours to complete being better than HL2. JMHO

This Securom stuff is ridiculous. So often you see developers remove it in patches soon after release, so what is the point of having it there in the first place? The only people you'll inconvenience are the very casual gamers who don't even bother looking for patches. And especially for a game like HL2 with all the extra piracy measures, using Securom as well is pointless. I guess I should be happy they've removed it now, though. Decent of them.

Gamespot is in the habit lately of overthinking big name games, and they are absolute suckers for a suprise hit. I'm sure Riddick is good, but I'll be suprised if I think it is better than Half Life 2. I really don't think anything can beat Valve's subtle telling of the Half Life story through gameplay. But hey, if Riddick is better, all the happier!

Well if this overhyped fanboi would have taken the time to compare the rewiews he would have comeback saying something like " Hey everyone gamespot gave Riddick a 9.3 OMG its a point higher than HL2, but there's a catch, gamespot rated the VALUE 7 on Riddick while HL2 got a VALUE of 9.
The single most important thing in any review is how they rate the Value, and as I have stated above RIDDICK got a 7 in that department.

I'm guessing that is because of the short time to complete, yes? I certainly wouldn't call that the most important thing.

Done: http://www.webster.com/cgi-bin/dictionary?book=Dictionary&va=value

And this is from Gamespot:
Value
For the most part, a game's value score is an indicator of the game's longevity. It represents how long you'll be able to both play and enjoy the game, and it also signifies how much replay value you'll get out of it. Breadth of gameplay options and overall volume of content both weigh heavily into this score. The retail price of a game can also figure into the value score, as can the presence or lack of similar, competitive products in the market. Finally, the overall quality of the game has some impact on its value, so, for instance, a bad game that's extremely long is still probably not worth playing.

Now what was the point again?

The enjoyment of a videogame is far too personal to ascribe something as subjective as V A L U E to. The very idea that they would try to use that word in that context and have it be even slightly meaningful is ridiculous.

Gamespot has long been my most trusted site for reviews. No other site has agreed so well with my opinions of both old and new games, and few sites attempt to see each game from as many angles as Gamespot.

That said, I have read a lot of people ragging on Gamespot, it seems, but I could never find someone who would pin down a reason. If someone could clarify, I might have to rethink my trust...
