Half-Life 2 Updates

Steam News (thanks Frans) has word of new updates to Half-Life 2, Half-Life 2 deathmatch, and the Source dedicated server that will be applied automatically when the Steam service is restarted. The update includes a Securom fix: "Solved disc in drive incompatibility error by removing Securom disc check routine."

The Half Life 2 Benchmark 2 on guru 3d among others might delete your autoexec.cfg. Make sure you use the in app update before you run it.

On a side note this is the first time I've seen half life 2 for 10 days and have been playing TCOR:EFBB (PC) for the last few hours and have to say the riddick beats HL2 hands down. Story, immersion (you see yourself and your shadow looks around when you do), interaction (no more mute characters!) all coupled with a GFX engine easily on a par with Doom 3 or hl2.

The only thing thing that seems to be lacking is the pysics of HL2.

There's also a bunch of DM fixes, including toning down the 357. It now takes 2 body shots to kill, not sure if 1 head shot will do the trick or not (100 health, no suit charge)

The overwatch map change, as far as I can tell, is that they added the board from the steps to the overwatch tower (by the RPG); you could walk across it before, but there was no visual tell-tale.
