Pie fight!
Well, Half-Life 2 deathmatch is easily more fun than I would have imagined. Devicer and I jumped into a multiplayer server, and a couple of minutes after commenting how players were obviously obsessed with their gravity guns because all they were doing was running around throwing things at each other, we each caught the fever, put away our guns, and joined the fray... Pie Fight is my new pet-name for gravity gun deathmatch, as the throwing of things is like a scene out of a Three Stooges short. The big surprise was how insanely fast and furious the gameplay was... the original H-L DM was somewhat methodical with slower running speeds and people planting trip-bombs all about, but this was more like DOOM or Serious Sam (though we didn't try team deathmatch yet, which may be more contemplative). My favorite gameplay bit so far is getting into games of soccer, shooting cars back and forth trying to crush each other.

I've said this for years and I agree. I was either the harrassing medic or D engy in TFC and had the worst score (whereas the capping medic had score of the gods) and my QSTATS were abysmal but we had a decent set of team stats.
CS would be a much better game if they did away with individual scores (certainly be a better team game) the same goes to Natural Selection.

As for playing on a server with no guns, there seems to be a setting to turn off spawned weapons. If you just get what you spawn with, then the game quickly turns into a gravity gun fest.
With guns, its all about controlling the .357 magnums, grenade launcher, and rocket launcher.

But it looks like Steam fixed the "Login from same IP address" issue.
We are no longer able to use it. It says already in use.
Must be something you are doing, as I restarted steam on both my computers and I am on the same DM server twice

I'd be much happier if servers did away with individual scores entirely. No individual points for a frag, or a cap, or an assist, or a defend. If your team caps, your team gets a point. That's it.
I've had plenty of TFC games where I kicked ass (okay, maybe stonewalled, because I play Engy D), but still wound up with a negative score. That didn't matter... the big goose-egg beside the other teams total score was what counted.

as of tonight I rank players who camp the rear of spawn areas with the Python .357 right down there with pushing old ladies in front of oncoming subway cars (which is right below people who take up two parking spots in a crowded lot so their SUV doesn't get scratched)

Though I don't camp, I just make runs around the map and happen to show back up when it respawns

Last time I was in SF I spent 4 days there, which gave a good bit of time to see the city and surroundings. Would definitely do it again, esp. since Heather hasn't been there.

Seems like many people have finals, so it'd probably be nice to wait a week or two.
How about a king of the hill with defenders and attackers. The defenders are on a raised platform/rooftop. The attackers only have the gravity gun and have to grab stuff to build a pile of things to let them climb up to the defenders, while the defenders only have small arms.
I'm all for it! I got HL2 finally but I can't play until this weekend because I'm too busy. Deathmatch sounds really fun and I can't wait to try it out.
