New H-L Sven Co-op

A new version of the Sven Co-op modification for Half-Life is now available, adding Stream support to this mod that allows cooperative multiplayer play in Half-Life. Additionally, the site now offers downloads of Covert Operations, "a new survival-horror-themed mission" for Half-Life. Finally, they speculate about their ability to reveal more about plans for Half-Life 2 co-op support: "With the Half-Life 2 SDK apparently slated for release next week, we'll probably be releasing some more details on Sven Co-op for Half-Life 2 fairly soon, so keep an eye on the site."

If I install HL (generations pack, fwiw) now that i have steam etc, will it Source-ify it? I'd just try it but dont fancy downloading much down 64k (damn teleco put back DSL a month here :/).

Yep, as long as the game is in your My Games list. Right click on the game in your list and select Download. It'll look for the files locally (and convert them) before trying to download them.

I loaded HL, Op Force, CS, and TFC into Steam this way...

Do I need to load up HL1 again to play this mod?I think I still have it somewhere. It would be fun to go through it again with other people.

Umm, over one year ago, a few months before the HL2 release date (30 September 2003).

Afraid a while after our talks with them, the Valve team became busier and busier until we didn't hear from them anymore. Full Steam support for Sven Co-op (with automatic updates and such) was constantly delayed, and in the end, presumably forgotten (the same goes for Natural Selection, who were also promised Steam support).

As a result, we're getting the SDK at the same time as everyone else. (Hopefully soon).

I remember reading reports over two years ago that Valve was working with them on the Sven coop for HL2. Since this now has Steam support, I guess they did indeed get some type of SDK before.

So how does Steam support work?

Can I d/l they stuff straight out of Steam? Or are they just listed in the server tab (and when I connect I d/l everything)?

Stream is the only way that Scooby Doo can play Hralf-Lrife 2.
