Out of the Blue

The guests have all gone home, the leftovers packaged away, and even the dishes are almost all cleaned, so our Thanksgiving festivities here at the BlueTower are about wrapped up. The final head-count here turned out to be 21, covering two species (there are a pair of dogs in there) and four generations, while accounting for the numerous twists and turns in what has become quite the extended extended family. By all accounts a fine old time was had by all, so here's hoping that others' festivities went well as well.

I just wanted all you Christmas haters to know that I went out at 5 AM today and immersed myself in an orgy of corporate Christmas whoring by buying all kinds of cheap electronic decorations. That and I wanted to post #399 on the way to 400 .....

Hmm maybe the Seneca College right next to my apartment building may have it. If they have some courses I might be able to see about getting part time student loans from the gov't to take it since I believe Seneca is an accredited college.

I just looked around Trios and their accelerated CCNA program is 3 grand but their regular bundled program is 550. I'd like to see what that entails but it doesn't look like I can without signing up.

Dan, have you looked at TriOS?

http://www.triostraining.com/cisco.asp

I don't know what their prices are like, though. Probably expensive, Cisco certification is a cash grab.

Where are you in GTA? They have 7 locations out that way.

Maybe they should certify Grand Turismo A-Spec, that game is hard.

GTA = Greater Toronto Area (Toronto + all the suburbs). The message was originally for people that would know what it is but now I'm looking for any suggestions.

I didn't realise just how retarded some of the CS kiddies are. You actually do still see "OMFG n00bz r t3h sux0rs Im t3h l33t!111"
Funny that you mention this. I played CS last night on a public server for the first time in my life, and it's true! "u r teh ghay! i r0x0r3d u m0m! b0t fagit!"

Mind-boggling.

edit: btw, I got pnw3d

I don't think Cisco certifies Grand Theft Auto. Oh and here in America we waste so much food because we like to keep the farmers in business. We Care.

The thing I'm worried about with just buying a book and learning myself is that I don't have any hands on experience besides configuring my non-Cisco router for a home network. So I don't know how well I'd do. I was considering trying to start out with the CCNA and possibly the CCDA over the summer but with rent and bills I don't know if I will be able to save enough for the IBM courses. Any more suggestions from people that have gone either route?

For the "blue" grav gun you need to SST

use "sv_cheats 1" then "map d3_citadel_03" (pick the gravity gun up after its done zapping your other weapons). Use "changelevel d1_trainstation_01" (or any level you want, just make sure you use the changelevel command, not map). Type give weapon_physcannon to get the blue grav gun or impulse 101 to get all the weapons. The following cvars can be changed to play around with nice stuff like combine armoured cars or pluck the flyeyes from a thousand feet

physcannon_chargetime 0.5 (def 2)
physcannon_maxforce 10000 (def 150)
physcannon_maxmass 10000 (def 250)
physcannon_mega_pullforce 20000 (def 8000)
physcannon_mega_tracelength 10000 (def 850)
physcannon_pullforce 20000 (def 4000)
physcannon_tracelength 10000 (def 250)

I know a guy who's a CCNE, recently become one (well, in the last 18 months), and was entirely self-taught. He got all the books from some cheap bookstore then took the exams and passed fine. He's a great network guy, actually. Knows a lot about the theory, and isn't afraid to get his hands dirty.

That's in merrie olde England though, so I dunno if it's different out in Canadialand.

we didn't go with the bird this year. we decided to grab some steaks, New York strips for my son and me while my brother got himself a choice chunk of filet. All of it cooked outside on the grill. Neighbors family going into their relatives were looking at us like we were a bit weird but hey, it was worth it.

BTW, if anyone is looking for a video card deal, CompUSA has a GeForce 6800 STD 128mb for $199 ($70 instant savings and $30 mail-in). I couldnt resist it so I went down this morning and picked one up to replace my ATi 9800 non-pro. I got almost a 30% increase in performance and a 35% increase by OC'ing it just a tad.

ATi 9800 non-pro OC'd to pro speeds: 3dmark 2005 = 2196
new GeForce 6800 @ default speed = 3165
(700/325 -->750/360 OC'd speed = 3456

I've been getting back into CS recently via Source, and I just thought I'd comment on just how funny some of the chat is between people. I didn't realise just how retarded some of the CS kiddies are. You actually do still see "OMFG n00bz r t3h sux0rs Im t3h l33t!111". I always thought it was just joking.

Edit: Can anyone tell me what the specific cheats are to get the mega-grav gun? I fancy playing through again with it, but after the sv_cheats one, any "give" command except a few don't work. I've got a long list of possibilities but was wondering if anyone knew.

Anyone here take any Cisco training courses in the Toronto area? Is it possible to not have to go to IBM and spend several grand taking their courses to prep you for the exams?
