WoW Launches

The World of Warcraft Community Site (thanks Frans) reflects on the launch of Blizzard's highly anticipated MMORPG in North America, Australia, and New Zealand. The update admits to problems created by the rush of new WoW players, and offers some suggestions on how to circumvent launch issues in the short-term as they work "around the clock to ensure we can smooth out this initial rush, and we will be working through Thanksgiving to address the latency issues that players are experiencing."

I was almost going to give EQ2 a chance (after learning to loathe Sony with EQ, then forgive them a bit with Planetside and then got bored and went back to loathing.) until I heard about that HO crap. Sounds like something from a Japanese RPG. Oh...

But I'm about ready to give up on WOW after 3 or 4 weeks in the European Beta. In which time without playing obssessively (chance would be a fine thing) I've got a warrior to 28 and 4 other chars to their mid teens. I really like everything they've done and the pace is about right for me but I've seen it all before and it's just not different enough to hold my attention. Sure, the combat is a button mash but what do you expect? Somebody here described it as like playing a CRPG but in a MMORPG enviroment and I think that's a good enough description. If you've never gone MM you'll have fun with it. And I mean if you can get over paying for it I just can't see how you won't enjoy WOW, for however long.
