Is it a problem for you to stay up past the time your spouse goes to bed to play HL2?
Of course, we don't have kids so this frees up quite a bit more time to do stuff
Another thing I did, was to get my spouse excited about HalfLife herself.
This is usually about the only time I do play. I'm usually up at 5:30 in the morning and don't get home from work until 5 or 5:30. We have a 21-month-old son, so evenings are pretty much taken up with dinner, taking him and the dog for a walk, and getting him to bed after playing for a while. He usually doesn't go down to 9:30 or so. Doesn't leave much time. Sometimes I play a bit when she's giving him a bath.
My wife doesn't like computer games. Just doesn't like them. She's pretty anti-violence and anti-gun (she's a Kinder teacher and doesn't like the effects of some real-life stuff like this on kids, as well as had a cousin die in a gun accident when she was young). I've tried things like NFS and others as well to no avail.
Edit - I've also been trying to complete several outside projects around the house before Christmas (laying paving tiles, making a planter/garden area, leveling some ground behind the garage to build a small shed) and spent last weekend cleaning out the garage. I worked a 14-hour day yesterday. I'm also trying to design a house floorplan for us if we decide to build a house in the next couple years (using one of those floorplan software programs).
