Out of the Blue [Nov 23, 2004, 09:34 am ET] – Share – Viewing Comments
I was already running a little behind this morning, and a little plumbing
problem set me even further back. According to our friendly neighborhood
plumber, the pipe to the radiator in our second-floor bathroom, which had
apparently been rusting for years, finally failed, causing a (thankfully minor)
flood in the basement. Turns out this is sort of good news that this finally
came to a head, as he says this was impeding the heat on the second floor as
well as my office above, so having the pipe repaired may well help us keep our
house warmer.

Perhaps fortunately, the pictures are not very detailed.
Is that yellowish stuff called by a bad word that rhymes with kit? If so, ugh.
And is that you standing there? The other person with the boots on has the right idea...
I'm taking the pictures, when I go in there I wear boots.
The yellowish stuff is grease.
It got a lot worse when we built a lance using ridgid conduit and fitted it to their utility (2") water line. We jammed it down into that stuff in an attempt to break it up. All we managed to do was create a 'milkshake'.
The worst was when the trash pump began to cavitate. The plant operator opened the chamber while the pump was running. He was coated in hot steaming stuff.
Not good times.
