Out of the Blue

I was already running a little behind this morning, and a little plumbing problem set me even further back. According to our friendly neighborhood plumber, the pipe to the radiator in our second-floor bathroom, which had apparently been rusting for years, finally failed, causing a (thankfully minor) flood in the basement. Turns out this is sort of good news that this finally came to a head, as he says this was impeding the heat on the second floor as well as my office above, so having the pipe repaired may well help us keep our house warmer.

Bottom line that inner circle is about 5.5' deep and it is packed to the top.
I know it must be worse than it looks, and just looking I don't even want to contemplate the composition of that pillar-of-filth.

And are the guys in the second picture there really not wearing any sort of face mask? Oi!

Perhaps fortunately, the pictures are not very detailed.

Is that yellowish stuff called by a bad word that rhymes with kit? If so, ugh.

And is that you standing there? The other person with the boots on has the right idea...

Okay, I'm heading out to pick up WoW. What server we playing on guys?

http://www.chatbear.com/board.plm?a=boardlisting&b=4995

Sma, we haven't picked a server yet but I'm installing the game atm, and after I patch I'll pick a server. We're going to do the Blue's guild on a Central server (one of the following)

Central - PvE
Garona
Alleria
Hellscream
Blackhand
Whisperwind

Whichever one looks like it will have the least amount of people so we can avoid overcrowding and lag (Hellscream is obviously out as it'll be the most popular one for the name). I'm thinking Garona, Alleria, or Whisperwind - but we'll see shortly.

Everyone else who will be playing, please stop by the board above after you've created your primary char on the server we pick and let us know his name, race and class (we'll be playing Alliance for the guild so it has to be an Alliance race, although we could start a Horde guild later on if enough people are into it).

P.S. Nin, you'd dig Vampire I think. The chicks are smokin'.

Cool, thanks for the heads-up.

Anyone else noticed the ad for Earthsea?

Sounds like it might be based on the books by Ursula Le Guin:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Wizard_of_Earthsea

Here's the plot summary from Wikipedia (spoilers ahead, so SST):

In the novel, a young man, Sparrowhawk, comes of age on his home island of Gont. While saving his village from pirates, he discovers that he has the inborn aptitude to practice magic. He is given his true, secret name - Ged - and is apprenticed to the wizard Ogion the Silent.

Sparrowhawk then travels to the school of wizardry on Roke Island, masters his craft easily, and, in his hubris, summons a spirit of darkness that scars him and leaves him for dead.

After a painful and slow recovery, Sparrowhawk is sent out into the world as a wizard. He has a series of adventures, including surviving a confrontation with a dragon. At last he resolves to track down the foe he has released and destroy or banish it. The last part of the book details his quest and its outcome.

NIN: Vampire is good if you can deal with some major rough edges. Like any Troika game it's brilliance occasionally shines through a lack of polish.

I'd forgotten that the TDS rerelease came out today, too much shit to buy and not enough money.

The stuttering problem has been driving me batty

I've been lucky and have not had this problem, except in VERY isolated instances, and it hasn't detracted from the game at all. Hope all of you having this problem get a fix soon.

So how many people are playing it through again on a harder setting or with the gravgun from the start? I can see myself doing that (a gravgun cheat or whatever) to have fun with the earlier levels later, and I haven't even seen that weapon yet in the game....

I guess everyone's finished HL2

Actually, I have a LONG, LONG way to go. I've only made it to SST: the part where I'm in the airboat-thing and I shot down a PITA bomb-dropping helicopter in a relatively open area. I had to get out and turn a handle on a platform to open a gate to proceed. Am I near a dam or something? I just took out the 2 rocket-launching vehicles and drove under the dock to jump into a tunnel to get to this location.

I only get to pay in short spurts (and my wife isn't happy about those), so this game will take a while, but I'm really enjoying it.

My freinds and I got through High school but rounding up TV's from the trash and ocasionally smashing them all up in one guys driveway in a veritable orgy of destruction. Doing this probably prevented school shootings.

Nope, I just finished 'Water Hazard'. The stuttering problem has been driving me batty, but I've implemented a few of the suggestions to help with it and it's gone down. Hopefully Valve gets that fix out today.

There hasn't been a new episode made for half a decade and still Americans would rather discuss Seinfeld than geopolitics.

Well, unlike politics it's a subject that many Americans are familiar with and can discuss with some semblance of rationality...

In my first job out of high school, I worked as an appliance deliveryman/installer. I used to like the days (few as they were) when we took some of the old appliances to the recycler/junkyard and were required to remove the doors (so kids couldn't climb in them and shut the door and possibly suffocate). Our favorite way was with a metal "beater" bar - we'd beat the tar out of those things....

It really did help with stress.
