There's something people don't really seem to realise...demo's cost the dev's time and money, both in short supply...that's why a lot of games don't have demo's.

Anyway...does anyone else think this is the perfect engine for Bungie's "Pimps at Sea!" game?

ha!
reviewers give the scores the company pay them to. haven't you learned anything from driv3r?
if this game was any good they would release a demo for people to see for themselves.

I'm on my second playthrough of Bloodlines, main complaints besides the extremely scarce use of physics, are that it seems kinda small compared to Fallout, Arcanum, etc. It's a really fun game, but imagine them using the same engine and making it in a GTA sized city instead of just 4 small neighborhoods.

space captain, so what are your other beefs with the game? Besides all the glitches and poor performance...

I heard it's a great RPG. So what are your reasons for rating it lower than that?

Oh, btw, have you completed the game yet?

all im saying is that the physics engine IS in the game... I didnt say that they put it to good use... in fact the huge number of indestructible and immoveable objects is one of my biggest beefs with the game - but i have others too

its a good RPG, but not a great one.... it beats KOTOR or NWN tho

And unfortunately combat is unavoidable and is en masse.

You'd best take Brawl or Melee + some str and defese or you are screwed.

Well, as far as interactivity of objects, Bloodlines isn't even close to HL2.

The cool part is the character animation. They put all their effort into the NPC dialogs. I'm sure you've seen the movies of where it does a closeup on peoples faces?

Really really good stuff. Occasionally I'll get freaked out because some NPC will remind me of a real person I know. They did all the facial animation quite well.. and the way source lipsyncs automagically is quite nifty.

There were a few long NPC dialoges that I loaded up a few times just to make sure I didn't miss something nifty.

Combat is really stunted. I would not go into this thinking you're going to get HL2 style combat.

The story and characters is where this game is going... not massive combat.

Ok killing an enemy and him falling over hardly qualifies as productive use of Havok. And as for items you can pickup... I've seen like two. Havok + Bloodlines = not there.

[trouble] Ships Ahoy means they loaded the games onto trucks and are moving them about the country. You won't be able to see it on shelves for a day or more unless you live close to a distribution center. [/trouble]

I always run out to get these games after the Ships Ahoy announcement here on Blue's, but the damn games are never in the stores.

Took a ride out to EB and Gamestop, both of which will be getting it tomorrow...When will I learn to call in advance?

professional, you must be on crack or something - havok is all over the combat in Bloodlines... try using some melee weapons on people and watch em fly around like little rag dolls

not to mention the various objects you can pick up and throw around and climb on top of (although there arent many)

How is the game?

I do remember the original but never played it, and I am finding lately the less I know about a game the more I enjoy it when I play it. (Half Life 2, Halo 2, Doom 3 etc).

Surprisingly I really enjoyed Need for Speed Underground as not have played the series scince Hot Pursuit 2.

And as for maps... I have a map of Amn on my wall, does that make me cool?

I just hurled myself into Vampire as a Malkavian... The story/characters are all that is there. The combat is bad on the order of Arcanum. Havok isn't used at all. The graphics are a few notches down from HL2 and it runs pisspoor comparatively.

But everything else (meaning the RPG assets) are freakin groovy. The music, the settings, the voice acting is all sa weet. So don't bother with it if you are looking for an FPS/RPG... just get for the RPG stuff.

Supposedly they include a cloth map with this one. Of course, I still have the original paper map, I wonder if it's still any good?

Zeus, I was arguing for you, dammit

But seriously, how's the game so far? Besides the glitches/bugs that many people are experiencing, is the game cool? Feel free to comment on the story and the RPG aspects...that's what matters the most for me.

I think he means quality-wise, not popularity-wise.

Kinda hard for an RPG-action hybrid game to outsell a mainstream FPS that has already established itself.

What kind of hat is it, because theoretically you could be wearing a piece of lettuce and referring to it as your hat. And as such, if you were to eat it, I would not be very ammused.

Haha...fair enough. I am wearing a 100% cotton Chicago Cubs 2003 Division Champions hat. Trust me, it does not look tasty and it would be quite amusing to watch me eat it. And I stand by my previous statement.
