Actually, age and gaming knowledge do correlate, since someone is less likely to know about something from before they were born, especially with the rapid jumps that computers and games make.

Why be excited?

Have you ever played Firaxis' last game Alpha Centauri?

Umm... that's why; Sid Meier and Firaxis are exceptional developers and Sid Meier always has been.

I'm sure most kids on this site hadn't even been potty trained when this game came out.

Get over yourself. Age and gaming knowledge do not correlate. Being older than such and such gamer does not make your opinions more valid. So stfu.

But yes, Pirates! rocked. Timing on the release is bad, but I will pick this one up eventually.

But that's just it--I *played* the original. This is just the original updated with purty graphics, right? Why should I be excited?

So was Doom3, or almost any FPS for that matter, but that received a ton of hype. FPS games, while they do gain a nice graphics update with each release are all basically the same from a gameplay perspective and we all still play them. HL2 is just HL1 with better graphics and physics.

The gamepay of Pirates is just what made the game so good. They shouldn't change that part one bit! I tried to play the original a while back but the graphics and DOS look of it all turned me away. Really hoping the new one captures all the exact same gameplay but with a new engine, delivers just what the game needed in a sequel. It will be a nice break from FPS games.

Because it's the original with updated graphics? That what gets me exited, at least. Can't wait to sink some Spaniards on my captured war galleon.

Read some of the reviews, much has changed but the basic gameplay has stayed the same.

Who recognizes this? What review out there has this in it? Oh, the Vice President of Marketing at Atari says this...ah.

So she recognized it as such. Wow, so it's kinda lucky she's also marketing it too! What a lucky gal!

Anyone who played computer games over 20 years ago would remember just how awesome the original was. The original Pirates was rated #3 in a list of greatest games EVER created.

Stick to your modern games buddy. If you ever played the original you would think it was also one of the greatest ever created.

It's to bad this title is being marketed by Atari, I sure hope it didn't get shoved out the door like Toee did.
Gotta meet that christmas rush, maybe we'll patch it later....

EDIT: I should point out that I thought the VP was refering to the NEW version of the game, not the original...my mistake. I'm sure it will be the end-all-be-all to videogames that many have said the original was. Lighten up.
