I think people are forgetting that the President dresses like a civilian, but the bulk of his activities are something that a military commander does. The guy should be wearing a full military uniform, if he wanted to be honest.
No. The President is not a military officer; he is the civilian leader of our government. Presidents USE the military (similar to the way one would use a tool) to carry out or enforce United States foreign policy.
I am curious: What constitutes a 'bulk' of the Presidents duties that are something a military commander does?
