Actually It's Doom 1 gameplay, but with no coop and one monster at a time, so it's not even 1992

Well HL2 is ahead on gamersrankings.com, but true D3 did rack up impressive reviews. Peoples opinions on forums was very mixed for D3 however, unlike HL2 where the wind has been blowing far more favourably. GOTY going to D3 would be far more controversial than HL2 (and wrong imo) so I'd imagine it'd be passed over.

Try typing g_dragentity in the Doom3 console and start picking up and throwing objects. You guys might just be impressed with doom3's physics.

3rd has been done before. There were some very stupid situations with the physics engine, for example in the canals, holding up a barrel that didn't even cover my whole body just completly stopped the AI in it's tracks. Acted like I wasn't even there.

Trespasser allowed you to use stuff against the enemy too

What did HL2 do that was not seen before in FPS again?

Gravity gun?

Working physics engine, allowing you to use pieces of the environment against the enemy?

Amazing character facial animation that matched what the character was saying?

If it was fun in 1992, it's probably fun now. I still play the original Doom and Doom 2, coop and deathmatch especially, and I'm far from the only one.

I don't see why gaming sites would pass it over for GOTY when it got perfect scores from those very same gaming sites, along with HL2.

(Frankly, they're mostly BS anyway, but that's a whole other discussion. Both of the games brought not much new to the table, but were both really fucking fun.)

Please ignore the mindless trolls, as it is apparently impossible to enjoy both competing games. Instead, we have to turn this into a pissing contest about who's e-penis is bigger.

Yes but competition is good for us consumers, doncha know? Id have the second best game, meaning they'll have to do even better next time in the arms race, which is good for us. Perhaps they'll bring gameplay on beyond circa 1992 when gaming sites pass it over for GOTY...

We've got Half-Life 2 now. Please cease your pointless noisemaking and come back when you've got something new, and more importantly, fun. Oh, and make sure we can see it, too. Thank you.

id did have something new. They dont load every 30 seconds of game-play. Man how old is that? But I like both, not some snot nosed punk who segregates him self to one thing at a time. What did HL2 do that was not seen before in FPS again? Didnt think so!

Jeez the spread on the single-barreled shotgun was wide enough... If you shoot the double-barrel will you be able to hit someone standing behind you? =p

I don't know about the spread, but the secondary fire mode for the shottie was a two-shot blast...

Or did everyone know that? I figured y'all did....

"The Grabber - Gravity Gun...."

What for? There's hardly anything physicalised in Doom 3. The physics are also very questionable.

Go buld rockets John Carmack. YOu're done. Apparently when you get to a certain age, you are incapable of creativity.
This guy is at the top of his game.
It's his game designers that need an overhaul. They get given some of the finest technology and produce a pedestrian game like DOOM3.
Sorry, but looking for someone's PDA so that I can read their emails is not what I want from an action shooter.

Gravity Gun = Force Pull/Push = advanced grapling hook.

Another blow against false perceptions of originality in gaming.

Umm, yeah, and I am sure the grappling hook allows you to pick up cars, saw blades and radiators and violently chuck it at your enemies.

Keep trying, eventually you might be able to make a proper comparison.

Well I really hope they take to heart some of the reasons why many people didn't enjoy Doom 3 and not just do a cookie cutter job. Cheap spawn scares, repetative levels, boring puzzles, one enemy at a time etc...

Uhh, while id bashing is always fashionable, I'd like to point out that this expansion is being made by Nerve Software.

So blame them for being unimaginative.

Cool, maybe they will build more lab levels and make us run around back and forth until we can't stand the game any more. I never did make it out of the labs before I got bored. Haven't turned the game back on since. Lame. Reminded me of that part in Halo 1 where you were running around those purple hallways over and over and over.....

And yes, HL2 was the complete opposite. Always something new around the next corner.

He cut the possum's face off then cut around the eye socket. In the center of the belt buckle, where the possum's eye would be, he has placed a small piece of wood from his old '52 Ford's home made railroad tie bumper. Damn, he misses that truck.

Id will have to pull a rabbit out of a hat to make up for the DOOM fiasco.

After hours of HL2, all I have to say is

OWNED!
