Best bit so far in the game (not very far in it at all, only just got to downtown) is the Hotel.

Loved that haunted place. With input from The Ring, The Shining and other horrow movies it made me (literally) break into a cold sweat. Damn i was scared. "He's coming. Be carefull"

Freaked me out man. Had a nightmare as well. Damn i sound like a pussy

Joe move to another country no one believes your tin foil hat bullshit. If you live in another country no american gives a shit about your views.

I have played the game and I like it a lot although the first area seems kind of cramped...the combat is sort of weird. In third person mode unlike it seems in other game, where you have your reticle when you start your attack is where it will land. Other games it seems place it where the reticle is when the animation is finished.

I'm getting sick and tired of the "I haven't played the game, but I'm hear to spread FUD" BS.

If you're gonna make comments about what you've heard from a friend of a friend of a neighbor's uncle's cousin in law, back it up with a link.

You guys are praising Half Life 2 this much, wich I certainly don't understand. Half Life 2 is very disappointing in my opinion, and so are the graphcis. What? Yeah, the graphics. The models look friggin great, but the terrain textures simply disappointed me bigtime! There was this one time I walked down a hall with a poster at the end on wich I couldn't read the text. The first thing I automatically thought was "Hmm.. in Soldier of Fortune 2 I would have been able too!" Don't ask me how I came up with SoF2, I'm not a fan of that game or anything.

And the loading screens in Vampire are so terrible?! WHAT THE HELL do I have another version of Half Life 2 or something? The one thing that made me go friggin trippin' the first hour in HL2 was the part where I had to get used to the LOAD SCREEN every 2 friggin' minutes!

I must add that I perchance grow tired of FPS games. They are VERY repeatitive, and yes.. so is HL2. I want games that give me a reason to play it a second time. HL2 doesn't really have that feature. Sure, the grav gun is good.. and so is the physics stuff... but that doesn't make it a next gen FPS imo.
Give me a game where you get XP.. and starting it a second time with the thought "Yay when I get to lvl XX I get that skill/spell". That keeps me goin'

Oh and btw... -----> STOP THE WAR CRAP! Find a war forum for that or something, or make a trip to mr. Bush and tell him what you think. This or that.. war sucks, we all know that.. shit happens, life sucks.. live with it.

The game runs fine.

I don't know what forums you've been to but every single one of my LAN party friends has been playing it with few to no issues. Few of us encountered speech stutter problems but that was quickly fixed by disabling EAX. It doesn't seem to have much effect on the game anyhow, though I've heard that keeping EAX enabled causes massive slowdowns over time.

None of us have had any problems with copy protection and I'm even running a CD-RW/DVD Combo drive, which is notorious for its problems with Safedisc.

The game is good...but, I think a bunch of FPS'ers are buying this game expecting HL2 with vampires. Well, guess what, goobers, it's a RPG. Long load times? Jesus...quit getting hopped up on sugar, and wait for it to load...it's not that fucking bad.

I have not played this game, but all the reviews agree that this is a good game weighted down with a lot of bugs (like graphics glitches) and bad design decisions (like combat).

From what I have heard, even if I buy this game I will not be able to play it since it uses a sadistic from of copy-protection (SafeDisc v3) which installs a boot level service on your computer called 'secdrv' which, among other nasty things, scans your registry for CD Emulation software and, if it finds any references to software that it deems questionable, locks any virtual image present in the virtual drive and the refuses launch the game.

Furthurmore, 'SafeDisc v3' is incompatable with many CD-ROM's; so even if I buy the game, there is no guarantee that I will be able to play the game.

Last, but not least, this form of copy-protection is, in fact, illegal as it violates the 'Interstate Commerce Act 1887'.

I have been forced to return a bunch of games I have purchased recently, including MOHPA, because of this illegal 'SafeDisc v3' protection scheme.

* I will not buy a product from a company that punishes legitimate customers with an illegal, and sadistic, copy-protection scheme while pirates get a free ride using the cracked version of the game. This kind of business model only encourages piracy.

* I will not buy a product from a company that brands me a thief when I purchase their product.

So far the game is pretty awesome, the action isn't too hot but the atmosphere and all the stuff you can do is amazing.

Before I went to work I broke into the hospital's blood bank, got into a moruge and found some odd deaths in the computer, saved a womans life by making her a ghoul, black mailed a doctor into giving my $75 and got $50 from the diner by pretending to be the food inspector

And that's all before I did my first mission!

If you love role playing get this ASAP. Like I said the combat isn't hot but it doesn't kill the game in any way.

ok last question from me. Why is Massive Attack not creditted for their song "Angel" which plays everytime you go to the menu or character sheet.

It was bugging the hell out of me as I knew the song well but had no idea what it was called - then I remembered it was on the Snatch soundtrack!

Also how come the Angel track plays over the top of whatever the background music is playing - makes for a very discordant menu system that wants you to back up to the main game asap!

""I am anit-war" Umm... what the fuck does that mean? "Anti-war", when I hear people saying that they just sound dumb beyond reason. So does that mean if America was invaded you would sit back and let it get taken over, or worse if we got into a nuclear conflict with Russia or China we should just let America get blown to smithereens with no retaliation? Or, are you anti current Iraq war? Is that what you meant to say? "

so in principle you agree with the insurgants. You are justifying civilians arming themselves against an invader, against an occupying army ...if this is the case, stfu about americans getting killed in iraq. It works both ways

Use your fucking head people, alot of fucked up shit is happening, but don't start throwing around complete and total bullshit like JosephBlowski's genocide comment and claiming that we have guys deliberately sniping women and children.

See. This is where you guys get in trouble. It is not bullshit. There is proof of these actions. Not photo proof. Bodies. Bodies with holes in the head, right between the eyes, and bodies shot right in the heart.

You think a shot like that is an accident?

Go peddle your excuses to fools who are easily persuaded like people who voted for bush. The rest of us are in full possession of our intellgence. We beleive what our eyes tell us.

A shot right between the eyes of a kid is a sniper kill. A shot right in the heart of a woman is a sniper kill.

Stop sucking up propaganda from FOX. Look at the photos on the international news to see how heroic it looks. Wait until you see a 5 year old with an amputated leg because instead of sending men in to get the insurgents, the USA just dropped a 500 pound bomb and who cares about civilians. They are all just Iraqis anyways, right?

Ah, but if you read what you quoted, i asked why do all FPS/RPG hybrids have to be this way? Nothing to do with Vampire, really. Only Morrowind is the exception, and that game isn't an FPS. I absolutely love the concept of FPS/RPG hybrids, and it's really frustrating getting motion sickness with every single one of them because they all have that same "close quarters, dark colors" theme going for them. It would also be great if an FPS/RPG hybrid would lean towards FPS more than RPG. Neither SS2 or Deus Ex games were action heavy. And neither games were especially great for FPS fans. These hybrid games aren't doing a good job of hybriding.

Fair point - however I don't think anyone has done a FPS/RPG hybrid except Morrowind that wasn't extremely dark in subject matter.(I have a proclivity towards playing archers if given the choice so for me Morrowind was leaning into FPS).

The problem with an FPS/RPG leaning more towards FPS would be what you are basically talking about is a FPS with an RPG's story and maybe inventory but without the whole stat levelling up thing right?

That seems to be the holy grail of FPS's. Getting a story you can believe in - Doom 3 tried with it's PDA's ,bless it's little heart. Far Cry didn't even bother trying and from what I've heard the plot of HL2 is one of the weaker aspects. The line between lame, sorry leet, sorry whatever, teenangers wanting the latest and greatest twitch shooter (u2k4 I'm looking at you) and a slower paced but more involving strokey beardy dwarf encrusted RPG is soooooooooo narrow that anyone coming close normaly wins so many game of the year awards they end up buying bigger offices!

PS Blue please put on a preview function!

PPS Activision broke into my shed - one of the pictures in the crackhouse is a copy of some topless lesbian called Sapho which my wife has but I hid out there one day while she was shopping. We used to hang it in the toilet to freak guests out but she has decidedly wonky boobs and put me off pooing after a while.

Deus Ex could be extremely action heavy depending on how you play it, and I played the game like four different ways. I will agree, however, that System Shock 2 was more about sneaking around and less about shooting everything.

Anyways dammit I really WISH I was playing this right now (Loved Redemption, love FP RPGS in general) but I can't get it until I get home in a week. Somebody give me a nice, objective review!!

The first thing that bothered me right off about this game was the movement. The developers apparantly thought just moving exactly where the player wanted wasn't good enough, so they decided to "enhance" movement by making it feel like you're on a frozen lake. Tap the key or move the slightest bit, and you'll end up sliding an additional foot. I just don't get that. Hopefully some console commands will come out soon and I can disable that crap.

After forcing myself to play despite that annoyance, I'm enjoying it so far, though I'm not very far into it.
