Steam News (thanks Frans) follows up on the story below this one announcing that Half-Life 2 authentication issues have been solved:

We have resolved the issues that caused some to experience delays with Half-Life 2 authentication earlier today. We appreciate your patience and hope everyone enjoys the game.

i just wanna play the single player , even the half life 1 source, but i only have a 56k modem (like most of australia), 44% steam updating............................

i usually buy games i like , but after this , i don't think i will buy anything thats 'steam' powered again. i don't give a toss about multiplayer, i just want the single player.

i am one of those who reformats my machine every few months to try different configs or to clean everything up, and having to 'authorise' (or whatever the hell it is) my single player *payed* for game is gonna make me explode.

the sooner i can get a no-steam/no-cd crack the better

to quote a derivative line from jay and silent bob

'fuck valve, fuck them in their stupid asses' (of course i am a sucker who actually payed to get screwed over)

why bother writing a post about this? well if nobody does, then nothing will get done about this, tho if u have cable u prolly wouldn't care less...

nice to have another big brother...
