Half-Life 2 for Sale?

Valve sends an explanation for why Half-Life 2 is not being activated at this time in spite of the couple reports of it being available at retail already:
Half-Life 2 For Sale?

If you have purchased a copy of Half-Life 2, we are sorry you are still waiting to play. This is not Valve's choice. Vivendi is insisting that the game has not yet been released, and has threatened that Valve would be in violation of its contract if we activate the Half-Life 2 Steam authentication servers at this time.

Thanks for your patience and we will update you when we have more news to share.

Did anyone else HATE then end of Halo 2?

I was waiting on the next level to load, didnt even relize I just killed the main bad guy, or the story was closed to ending. Then comes the credits. WTF. Game was a rip. Only cool thing about it was that the French saved games worked with the English version, so half way into it I could understand the aliens and didnt have to start over.

Just my opp tho, what do you guys think about the end?

Funny that someone trolled with Tribes, because I remember reading an article where Sierra complained about how large a percentage of die-hard users pirated that game and how drastically damaged revenues were.

no...its 3am EST, midnight PST. So, 3:45 left. And yet still, Blue has not put the HL2 reviews on the site yet. Seriously...what is he doing? Is there a HL2 review boycott that I don't know about?

And also, can we just leave steam running to get the update, or do I actually have to press a confirmation button or something (as if I wouldn't want to install the activation files...)? Me thinks I won't be awake at 3am.

Hey I'm with you on this one S_DOG34. Not that I didn't enjoy Doom3, it was fun. But I much prefer realistic graphics and the screenshots I've seen definitely make a case for this being the best looking game ever.... to people who like realism, that is.

Not to say 'I told you so' to the Doom3 goons, but all 3 of the reviews Ive read so far say that the source engine offers the best graphics ever.

I don't suppose this will change anybody's opinion, but at least I know that I'm not the only one who appreciates realistic graphics. *shrug*

Viper, HL2+CS:S (They're packaged together) are 4.2 gigs in size, so if you free up 4.5 it should be good.

Most people who have purchased from Steam have got the Silver package - which includes Valve's entire backlog of games - and you need 8 gigs for that. HL2 itself probably needs half that amount - about 4 gigs.

Very true. My Steam folder size: 7.67 gig.
