World of Warcraft Open Beta

Blizzard Entertainment announces the beginning of the World of Warcraft Open Beta (thanks Ant), though the World of Community Website seems to have crumpled under the stress of the news. Word is that: "An initial run of open beta accounts is now available from FilePlanet" (not limited to paid subscribed like the stress test), the wording suggesting accounts will be available elsewhere eventually. Here's a bit on the beta: "In preparation for the launch of World of Warcraft, we are now introducing the most complete version of the game, including a new patch with extensive content, including racial traits, raids, Hunter and Paladin talents, new quests for high-end zones, and much more." Update: The client is now also available on WorldofWarcraft.com and mirrored on Gamer's Hell.

I just played that game and made it to the next level before the zone crashed. For my efforts, I received an "E-peen of bragging rights" and a "Key of Activation". Unfortunately, the next level is hell. Mouse-clicking skills have been nerfed and the spawn is camped, although the party waiting in line ahead of me says I'll be able to try to kill the DL giant in 108 minutes. I heard the battle against the DL giant can take hours, assuming no one tries to gank and force me to start over again.

Hours?

Ha!!!!

Try DAYS.

Seriously. Look around on http://www.worldofwar.net for advice on downloading the file.

I think I could start a business/service where I burn the client to a DVD and mail it to people.

Don't laugh, I've already done it 3 times!

worldofwarcraft.com is currently being hammered into oblivion as we speak. I really hope I get to try this otherwise I don't think I will buy the game without knowing what it is like.

Go and have yourself an orgasm. That is what it is like.

Heck, looking how most nerds get in just by checking all the marks as in they have all games... god damn Bliizad, you morons atleast ask for a cd-key verification, so all the REAL fans can get in instead of useless nerds who camp the websites.

Bah!

Nice and there I was thinking I could try it out before buying, but nope, sonds of bitches who played all the test keep playing useless games because their characters are going to be delete in retail game. And blizzard doesnt give a shit about their fans who cant "camp" their site sitting and refreshing for days to get in and try it out while still helping to test it.

Nope we get shit, coupled with the fact all the old guys were kicked out Blizzard can go fuck itself now, I probably wont be buying any of their sticking games.

I just found a very amusing little web-based game I wanted to share with you guys. You pretend to be a user trying to access the normal functions of a web site that supposedly exists to service a high number of people. But instead, you get a variety of interesting errors over and over again. Eventually the game ends because the thing you wanted in the first place is no longer available.

I'm not sure what the point of the game is, but it's a good way to waste ten minutes of your life.

I heard the battle against the DL giant can take hours, assuming no one tries to gank and force me to start over again.

Not only that, but even after I beat the DL giant, supposedly I'll still need to defeat the DL giant's son, "Patch". That'll take freaken years with all these newbs trying to beat Patch at the same time, using a pitiful sword of torrent -1. Right now I'm so far away from that level don't want to think about it.

But seriously, I heard that Blizz will be handing out more OB spots after FP runs out. They're probably trying to do it in batches to avoid slamming the server to the point where no one can play.

...is actually what it says there on Battle.net. And Fileplanet now says you can still get in via WorldOfWarcraft.com, complete with link. Which is down at the moment, but that doesn't make him a dolt.

Errr... he said he remembers those "idiots" saying this will be a real open beta... if he doesn't want to be insulted, maybe he shouldn't insult others...

Actually, I decided that I'd rather play a game where you have sex with a hobbit.

Does anyone know where the signup for that game is?

PR: The World of Warcraft and Open Beta Account Creation sites are temporarily down. We are experiencing technical difficulties on our end and are working diligently to restore service to this site. We apologize for any inconvenience this is causing you. We do not currently have an estimated time for when the World of Warcraft Web site will be back up, but we are working extremely hard to solve these technical difficulties as quickly as possible. Thank you for your patience.

Well i just installed EQ2 and got it cranked up to at least high settings and its running like a dream, Yes i do want to test this out agian as the early beta i tried didnt impress me at all, Im a junkiee to these types of games SWG, AO1, EQ1 ect.... so i just hope the best for Wow and no matter my opinion with EQ2 and Wow out the same month im in virtual Hell ...I mean heaven.

Then i must consider HL2 and Vampire my final purchase for the 2004 season and mabey a little Vin Diesel thrown in for good measure.

But EQ2 I must say i prob gonna be best game of the year including Wow HL2 or vampire.

Uh...

Yeah, me too. I'd rather have an open beta that was unplayable until they figured out how far to scale up, given that the alternative is an unplayable retail product I paid for.

Just a side note, the game servers are still up - for now.
