Speaking of CS:S, what's the status of CS2? The CS guys have been working on it for a while now, right?

Well, I rather that they keep the enthusiasm down. There's no point hyping it. I want this game to sneak up and snatch GOTY from the hands of HL2.

I have high hopes for Bloodlines. I'm disappointed by the reaction of the reviewers to be honest... I was expecting them to rave about how great it is and instead they seem content to just tell us it's "strong" and is like Dues Ex and System Shock 2. I love the 2 games they compare it too but I'm nervous...
For those of us who have played CS:S it's not like the source engine is a big secret anymore. In all honesty, as much as I'm stoked for HL2 - and I am stoked - I'm more stoked for Bloodlines. The game has to be gold by now. This is just stupid if they can't even announce it gold untill HL2 ships.

but i dont think they are doing anything to the code, the master CDs are probably already finished and just waiting for the chance to go to the factory - but since its not at the factory, its not technically "gold"... thats why i bet all this insane publicity has been going on, because they cant do anything else - so activision goes "lets spend the rest of that budget money on marketing!"

People say it was in the contract they signed with Valve when licensing the Source engine. Haven't seen the contract itself, but I recall seeing some kind of developer confirmation (just call me Mr. Credible).
Either way, this just gives them more time to shine the game up before release. Can't think of many games that couldn't have used an extra month or two of dev time.

there must be some kind of draconian contract clause concerning the release date of HL2 - perhaps they cannot announce Bloodlines shipping date till HL2 is in the stores??
