Gold - World of Warcraft

Blizzard Entertainment (thanks Tony) announces that World of Warcraft will be in stores in North America, Australia, and New Zealand on November 23, and their eagerly anticipated MMORPG "is planned for release in Korea, Europe, and other countries throughout Asia shortly following." The release goes on to offer quotes about the project, as well as details on a few different subscription pricing plans. Here's a bit more:
In World of Warcraft, players assume the roles of legendary heroes and interact with thousands of other players online as they explore and adventure across a vast world. Whether journeying together or questing on their own, players will engage in heroic battles, develop friendships, forge alliances, and compete with enemies for power and glory. The game features customizable character classes with thousands of weapons, spells, and abilities. With an innovative, easy-to-use interface, an action-packed combat system, and thousands of quests that build an immersive storyline, World of Warcraft offers a MMORPG that will appeal to both veteran and casual players alike.

I sure hope they wipe the beta char's though as I plan on playing PVP. (they actually haven't made a decision on this yet)

I have a sneaky suspicion that they are going to convert the closed beta server into a sort of 'test' server. There is a lot of speculation that the open beta characters will roll into retail.

This would be ok IMO, I started a NE druid on Central 5 today and the noob area was packed already. I can't imagine what it will be like at launch.

It wasn't fun during stress test and I played it pretty much every day for 8 hrs+ with friends
Um... Then why the heck did you spend well over 40 hours playing a 'unfun' game?
DOH!

I for one can't wait till I get my hands on the retail of this. I sure hope they wipe the beta char's though as I plan on playing PVP. (they actually haven't made a decision on this yet)

This will last far longer than 2-3 months. Yes, you could take a character up in that time to 60. But then you can start over with another race...which has different quests/storyline for you to explore. For instance, how many Dwarves are exploring and doing quests throughout Silverpine Forest?

I can see this lasting a very long time if you want it to, as long as it keeps fresh and fun. Once it stops being fun, I'll stop playing. I'm not going to get on that leveling treadmill chores of EQ ever again. So far with WoW I've been playing and I don't even care what level I am or what "phat lewtz" I have...and I've been having a blast. Undead rogues are so much fun!

<shrug> based on the beta the average subscription will be for about 2-3 months. If that's the plan then well done, says I! It will ne a GOOD 3 months.

was a bit unexpected. I mean, ya, the game was pretty much ready. I'm just not expecting it to be today, that's all.

Now, Vampire Bloodlines, come on. Your turn next.
