Out of the Blue

Happy Halloween! This is our first weekend Halloween in the land of rugrats, so we're not sure what to expect... usually on weekdays, they wait until after dark before beginning their Cornholio runs, but it's possible that we'll get an unusual number of visitations during the day today. Due to this, some kids may get to experience my exasperated football fan costume if they arrive at the wrong key moment...

We had a great visit with the breeder yesterday... he has great dogs, and we are looking forward to our new puppy more than ever. Oh, by the way, we finally found Hudson her superhero costume, so this year she really is finally actually dressing up as Hudson the wonder dog for Halloween.

Finally, happy Standard Time to all who have had their clocks fall back today. As always, I enjoy getting the extra hour, but hate the earlier sundowns in a big way... I'm going to add permanent Daylight Saving Time as a second campaign promise for my eventual run for the presidency (my first promise is mandatory annual driver tests for those over 70).

Here in Australia (the eastern states, anyway), we're just going into daylight savings time this weekend. The lord giveth with one hand and taketh away with the other...

And yeah, here we have compulsary medical checks every year for drivers over 80, and driving tests if recommended by the doctor. Looks like you should be thinking about moving downunder, Blue. The only thing we don't have is your ridiculous version of football

21-3 Pitts.

ugh

In a way I'm sorry to see that streak end. In another way I'm happy it ended in Pittsburgh the week before the Eagles go out there to play.

I really think that the Steelers will be the Eagles first loss this year.

Blue,

I am with you on the mandatory driver test issue; however, it needs to be free of charge. Social security is already being plundered, and putting another annual expense on seniors would be harsh.

what needs to be done is some sort of campaign directed towards family members to monitor their elderly relatives for signs that it may be time to retire the car keys. I had to take the lead in my family and requested the traffic court revoke my moms liscense when her Alzheimers began to take its toll. She had struck a parked vehicle on her way home from church (she had previously had some scary near misses) and I made the decision while the rest of the family looked at their shoes with their hands in their pockets not wanting to do the dirty work. I imagine thats the case with other families as no one wants to be the bad guy but in our case it could've been a neighbors kids standing between her car and the vehicle she struck so it had to be done.

The problem with a public campaign is that some groups will gripe that it takes away more rights from senior citizens but like other things in politically correct society, people need to stop worrying about hurting someones feelings and do whats important.

"By the way, and completely OT, what does anyone make of this Birth movie ruckus about kids in baths with Nicole Kidman?"

I think that is a very very lucky kid. It's all downhill from here for him.

Seriously, of course strangers shouldn't be around naked children older than 2 or 3. The movie asks the question, if you thought your dead husband was reincarnated as a child, what would be the sexual dynamic? Of course, you have to be little (lot) insane to admit the premise, but if we did live in a world where such things happened, I think we would probably live and let live. Especially if the widows looked like she does.

Nevermind, I found this article: http://msnbc.msn.com/id/5946754

What do I think? I don't think adults [ESPECIALLY strangers] should be sitting in bathtubs with 10 year old kids completely (or even mostly) nude. Acting is acting but when children are involved I think certain lines should not be crossed.

Isn't this similar to what the church got in trouble for?
