DOOM 3 Add-on Date?

Today's Activision Investor Conference Call (thanks HomeLAN Fed) apparently announces first quarter of 2005 as the publisher's projected release date for id's and Nerve's recently announced DOOM 3: Resurrection of Evil add-on, though of course, as always, id Software has the final say on the release dates of their projects. Q1 2005 was also listed as the projected release date for the Xbox version of DOOM 3, and both of those dates are now reflected on this Activision Investor Relations Release Calendar.

I loved it, and I'm looking forward to this expansion.

Actually i thought doom3 showed alot of unfulfilled potential, it will be interesting to see what ID does with this update.

I liked doom3 but thought that it was a little too long.. I mean, all those ALpha labs and such...A little more change of scenery would be nicer.

You mix these together and I'm right there. A little long in some areas, definitely potential for additional improvements, but really enjoyed it nonetheless. I am excited to see what the expansion and Q4 have in store.

The plastic look bothered me, but it's nearly everywhere, so I didn't really care.

I liked multiplayer, in the very short bit I played. It was on a computer that couldn't handle the shadows so it was choppy as hell, but at least one of the maps was a ton of fun... hiding in the shadows and popping out reigning hell with a shotgun, haha. I definitely saw huge LAN potential.

If it had been a shorter game I would've been much more enthusiastic over it but I'd be lying if I didn't say I had fun with it!

I'm not going to flame anyone, but I loved it, and I'm looking forward to this expansion.

I just think every once in a while someone like me needs to speak up in these threads, as all I ever see are people bashing D3, when I'm sure there are others like me out there.

That's funny 'cause I thought she said "Did I, hughes...". I found the answer while watching the dvd. Nothing like subtitles to cure someones bad diction.

Meh, no quotes here.. but to in reply to the comment that no one forced me to play this game. I say...

Yes they are. I had to pay close to $100 to play this nice looking, but very ordinary game. It looks great, but this is just another corridor & crate shooter.

Apart from the nice eye candy I can't see anything to get excited about in this game. There is nothing new.

Yeah, and DOOM 3 looked impressive too. Let's hope they bring back the gaming purity that was Quake 2 in Quake 4. God I miss the good old days of Threewave CTF and the offhand grap.

Is this the add-on that makes it fun/not force myself to play till the end/add's real multiplayer/insert your own word here?

Said it before and will say it again, id makes tech demo's. Other companies like Ravn make real games out of it. And on that note Quake 4 looks impressive.

Hopefully the gameplay in the expansion won't be as dead as Ashlee Simpson's career...

BTW Beamer, I had the exact same response to DOOM3. I've been a hardcore id gamer for years and years. Played Doom back when it was brand new, and played all 3 quake games online for years and years.

DOOM 3 looks pretty (although a little too plastic for me), but that is all. The gameplay wasn't stimulating in the least for me. The story was stale and the scripted scenes did little or nothing to keep me interested. I got about 5 hours into it and haven't fired it back up since. The only reason I allow it to take up hard drive space is that I hope for some cool mods for the engine.

I'm not going to sit here and try to convince you all, in some self-aggrandizing way, that DOOM3 sucks. It's subjective. It doesn't suck, but it's not what I'm looking for. In 20 days or so HL2 will be activated on my machine, and I will give it a try.

Did IQs just drop sharply while I was away?

So that's what Ripley said! I could never figure out what the hell she meant by "Did I accuse of just dropping sharply...". Now it all makes sense, my life is complete.

Glad I could help!

This is one of my favorite movies - I love the widescreen SE, had it on a bootleg VHS tape (probably off Laserdisk) and played it 'til it wore out. I was so stoked to get it on DVD.

Is this the patch that adds ORIGINAL gameplay and makes the game fun?
