I think the distributor over there is different from the one in the US, and here they must have decided it will never sell unless it's cheap.
This way they can bundle the game + expansion together for like $20.

Crazily the original is only £7.97 from Amazon.co.uk, but the expansion is £19.99.

Even play.com have the expansion for £17.99, where did the $9.99 come from?

Wow, that sounds like it represents pretty exceptional value for money. No reason for anyone who enjoyed H&D2 to not pick it up at that price (especially if the co-op play appeals)!

As for its popularity... well the original H&D was a huge success, and I read that H&D2 did extremely well also. I don't think the US is the biggest market for these games (even if it is the most vocal around these parts) but there are of course millions of gamers in other countries.

no one ever promised H&D2 co-op in a patch.

multiplayer modes are...

"objective" (two teams, one tries to complete objective while other tries to stop)

"Occupation" fighting over territory

and Deatmatch, you play as Axis or Allies

Co-op is included for new missions in Sabre Squadron.

not many play, but enough, it's not very realistic, more arcade, but good fun

I bought H&D2 because the developers said it would have coop like H&D1. Then come to find out that it doesn't, but "it will be included in a patch". They neglected to mention that they would be putting the patch in a package and selling it on store shelves as an expansion. While H&D2 is a unique game to play online, I won't be giving them any more of my money. I'm tired of developers reneging on their promises and then playing it off.

Can someone please tell me what multiplayer is like, and whether or not you can play team matches (Germans vs Brits, or whatever), where you get only 1 life, such as the now removed Airborne DOD rounds, or the S&D rounds in Call of Duty?

What other modes of multiplay are there, and what are they like?

Does anyone even play it?

I loved H&D, but was so hesitant to pick up H&D2, because no one seemed to want to play it. I loved the game, though, and a realistic multiplayer option would be good for me...if anyone actually plays it.

Yeah. What's up with that? I know IGN.com or some gaming site has an annual award for the "BEST GAME THAT NO ONE PLAYED" and I think HD2 was nominated, but I'm not sure if it won. I didn't remember the site, so I couldnt' follow-up. But man, it's a really fun game both online and single-player. Probably one of the better games in 2003.

Wish it had more support. I'm surprised they even made an expansion pack for it. Love H&D2 and I hope the Co-Op is great.

It came out in the UK about 2 weeks ago with no fanfare - much the same scenario as when H&D2 itself came out. No real marketing or hype - it just 'appeared'. It's almost like they're embarrassed by it or something...

When I read the title "Sabre Squadron", I'm thinking Korean war, since the Sabre (North American F-86) was a Korean war-era fighter. Reminded me of a game that's been in development for ages called "Target Korea".

I picked up H&D2 for $8 from EB Games a few weeks ago.

Is that $9.99 price listed in the press release the actual price or a typo? Seems pretty cheap for an expansion pack.

HD2 is a cool game, but apparently it didn't receive great reviews and didn't ever caught on. It's online base is only around 200ish players. Not sure what went wrong, but I enjoy it.
