America's Army Patch

A new patch is now available for America's Army, updating the freeware Unreal-engine military shooter to version 2.2.0. The update adds a couple of new multiplayer missions and a variety of teaks and fixes. Downloads can be found on 3D Gamers, ActionTrip, FileFront, FileShack (registration required), Gameguru Mania, Gamer's Hell, Games-Fusion, GameSpot DLX (registration required), and Worthplaying.

I had the issue also, use this step to correct:

Step # 2 - At the console "~" (ie:tilde key) type: pb_security 0 (Allows you to play on servers that have not been received their update)
Note: Hit the tilde key "~"at the deploy menu, that will take you to the soldiers creed screen, that is where you enter the above command and hit enter. You will not see anything happen. Hit the ESC key to return to the menu screen again. command reads: pb underscore security space zero.

The first part of the post explains how to determine the cause of the pb kick.

I'd like to know why it took 2 months to release 2 maps. Where are the rest of the M4 mods? They've been coming since 2.0. I really don't see any more content with this patch besides the 2 new maps.

Don't get me wrong, it's cool to be playing 2 new maps, but I was expecting more.

really loved that game, but I haven't played it at all for a long time.

they took out 'nades??...granted It was highly annoying that the shrapnel seemed to be 100% lethal even if you were at the outermost fringe of the 'nades radius, I didn't think they were THAT bad, if they had just fixed that little issue, they would have been fine.

my only other pet peeve about that game is how the M16 was so underpowered compared to the SAW, would HATE it how I would get the jump on a SAW gunner, start unloading into him, but even after being hit, he would still be able to swing the SAW around and cut me in half before I could kill him.

bullet impacts should spin you around or at the very least, make it so you can't accurately aim WHILE you're being hit multiple times.

surprise was such a key part of that game, which is what made it so frustrating.

any other big changes to gameplay besides medics and no 'nades?

The patch adds another level of realism. Now, when your buddy's head explodes, your character is rendered immobile for 2-3 seconds while it screams in horror.

They took out some nades for that reason. The special forces maps have no nades at all. You should give it a try, a lot has changed.

Hopefully they'll patch their Punkbuster client. I've had the worst luck with PB and that game for some reason. I keep getting a "PB client in distress" in the console then it kicks me...and of course, when it kicks you the console is wiped out and you can't see what the problem is. I've gone to PB's website, I've upgraded their software with their little software-uprady-thingy and that works like for one session, then when I go today to play I start getting the "PB client in distress" again. Needless to say, I just uninstalled it.

Maybe I AM just a punk to them...
