installment in 3000 AD's Universal Combat/Battlecruiser series, due fourth
quarter of this year. There is an article on the announcement on
The
Adrenaline Vault that offers some screenshots and movies from the project,
which they describe like this: "The game is based on the new engine technology
being used in next year's Universal Combat: Hold The Line, which will provide
vastly improved graphics than those seen in Universal Combat. According to 3000
AD, Hostile Intent will be purely combat focused, with most of the complexity
and micromanagement normally associated with their games removed."
I'll be first in line for the paid beta test 
Does this mean he didn't get the rights to the game (whichever it was - Freespace maybe?) that he wanted to?

Not a flame - just curious. He created quite a stir a while back with his intentions of picking up some game series and making it his own - then within a few days - nothing more on it.

Yeahhh! Derek Smart is back already!!!! This is bound to get ugly soon. How big was the last one?
I bought into Universal Combat, nice outside ship designs, and some of the Battleship mission were not all that bad but,
the ground stuff was all broken and not finnished, it was a great idea without a great budget or amount of time pick your choice,
But i wont knock the gy for doing something different and almost doing it well, I pull for games like this to win, why cause im tired of all the Fking Me too FPS and stratgy games of late.

The reason for Derek Smart's notoriety is the same reason the Jerry Springer show has so many viewers...the average human just loves a freak show. The guy suffers from serious delusions of grandeur, thinks he's got a super-high IQ (if he claimed a fake degree then is he really above faking his IQ scores), clearly cannot get along with anyone (must be lonely at the top) and most laughably of all, has seen every game he's "made" become an instant flop. I believe his latest travesty was bargain-bin-priced the day it was released. You'd think that after all those bad reviews he'd finally eat a slice of humble pie...hey, maybe he has! Wouldn't he normally be here by now calling us all bitches and morons who don't deserve to play his games?

check out how the game still looks like complete ass... except shinier - with totally flat terrain and buildings that you cannot go inside
