Sims 2 Patch Plans

TheSims2.com Forums have news on plans for the first patch for Maxis' little-people sequel (thanks Tiscali Games). Word is they are busy collecting which issues they will be addressing: "So, while the majority of users are able to run the game with no problems we know that there have been a couple issues you guys have run into while playing the game and we're going to do our best to gather additional information from you so that we can resolve as many of the issues as possible. Next week there will be a form on the website for The Sims 2 that will allow you to enter in your information in order to help us track down and reproduce issues."

Cheers fo the response, least you helped out....... I subbmitted my problem to EA on October the 6th (looking for news about game updating for weeks) so at least they are trying to resolve some of the problems with the sims 2. Looks like i will just have to wait patiently.

I've kindda got to the stage where I really cant be fussed what time the patch comes out as long as its before febuary next year just as long as the ruddy thing works!

I looked on other fourms and found people have very similar problems, its not just ATI of what i heard but Nvinda to. all us p****d off sims fans have came to the conclusion that sims 2 is the problem not our card ranges. if that helps at all. I have lanother link adressing my problem if EA are intrested in looking:

http://www.rage3d.com/board/showthread.php?p=1333227796#post1333227796 (NOW! THE MOST INTRESTING PERSON IS tunless he has very similar specs to mine and is having same problems you really should check this out)

i will be refering back to this site frequently to check for further posts. (my only hope at current)

Please keep up posting so

Well, I'd go to the thread above and make your voice known...surely someone else has the same or similar problem...

I don't have an ATI card, so I'm a little short on ideas...anyone else want to jump in here?

Just that game, or all games? Could be a driver issue, or if it's all games, it sounds like a heat issue...

I think they need either a multi-level spiral staircase or the ability to put staircases one ontop of the other. The room taken up when buiding tri-levels is a little wasteful.

I just read about the Nero/Alcohol/etc issues this game has

I have Nero installed, the game runs fine and installed, well, I guess I should say fine because it DID install, but the first time I tried it it choked on disc 3 for some reason.

I've played it for awhile and had no problems, but when my wife plays the game keeps crashing, so it's definitely not without problems.
Then again, it took them about five patches to make the first Sims moderately playable, so I guess that was to be expected.

I tried to get a sim to join a private school. On the third attempt, the school administrator disappeared after the father offered to give him a tour. Now the father does nothing unless you tell him too. He just stands there looking at the wall(He still makes alot of money playing football). A kitchen chair can no longer be used or sold. And when I throw a party the barman sticks around until I dismiss him. Maybe the barman is a secret detective looking for that missing school administrator? He seemed to be interested in the chair..

I have a bug. When my sim was single he was getting tail left and right. I asked the two sisters to move in with me, and one of them I bone nightly while the other turned into a crackwhore and none of the other neighbors will talk to me.

What is the resolution to this problem?

That is, most definitely, a feature!

And people say The Sims isn't interesting and fun...

The only bug I've seen is that sometimes, certain objects will become 'locked'; my sims can't use them (they try to, but they just stand there looking silly) and I can't delete them. It seems to happen quite often to the dartboard.

I've had a minor gameplay bug, not a gamestopper though. The game seems stable to me other than that minor issue.

on the sims2 website.. they tell you how to take care of problems with burning software. I did what they said to do and have had no problems since. Its in the support area.

So what'd you have to do?

Cant find that statement in english right now, but I just saw that they released a patch that supposedly fixes the problems with such applications.

I just read about the Nero/Alcohol/etc issues this game has.

I'm also not familiar with these issues. I have Alcohol running a (legitimate) image of the Sims2 DVD and have no issue with it.

I agree that the amount of "expansions" that come out for the Sims franchise is a little overboard. Lots of those should probably have been released as freebies.

Its an EA product, trust me they'll be bugs discovered in droves. The nice thing about this game though is that like its predecessor, its going to have a very long sales cycle. Since EA is only interested in supporting games so long as they are still bringing in money, there should be support for this for quite a while. Though you shoudl expect to see the majority of the major patches be included only in the expansion packs. "You have a major problem with the game running? Sure, we can fix that for $39.99. And you'll get a whole bunch of new iconic crap for your house too!"
