Um, wow, this (RCT3) is pretty damn good. To my surprise, this has actually raised my expectations and anticipation (already high) for the next ELITE. Love the crowd stuff, and the level of detail in the gameplay is impressive and hints at damn good stuff for ELITE.

I was able to crank up the visuals and it ran great, no complaints from me in that department.

I think it was a fair statement. Modeling the whole planet in 3D was well and good back in the age of wireframes and untextured polygons, but I don't think any commercial releases have done the same thing in recent times. How many polygons does a planet need to make it look flat up close? Is each planet still going to consist of a few dozen bases, max? I think saying that we can land on planets sounds fairly impressive, and would like to see how they put it together.

Hmm - when I try to run it I just get a 'RCT3.EXE has encountered a problem etc etc...' Grr.

So where's the timer-killing crack?

I thought it looked nice as well. I liked all of the lights at night and the park guests were great. None of them looked the same and they were all doing different stuff. I've never tried the Elite game, but it sounds interesting

Yep, unfortunately it's been there forever. I wonder how much of the 'bigness' of Frontier/Elite will be toned down (because we all know it will to some extent - it's inevitable). Statements like 'you will still be able to land on planets' scare the bajeezus outta me. Well DUH, we freakin sure well BETTER be able to land on planets!!! Awww man, as a huge hardcore fan of the originals, this game is SICK! I will admit it does even lag on my rig in the small setup they have on the nontutorial part. My rig is a P4. 3.2ghz 800fsb, Geforce 6800 GT OC, and 1gb PC3200 ram. I have to admit, it's the first game I've tried of all new ones(including CSS) that have finally showed lag in a game. I think it will be taken care of by switching to 16bit color though still kinda gets me mad. Other than that amazing game. Can ride the coasters, and lots of nice details. Water looks great and reflects even the coasters when they go over it. It really lags at night because the lighting effects and they make your cursor show some light to help you see things though since that creates a light cast on every object, it adds to the lag. Also, it looks like Frontier was being careful on how they made the interface and it's safe to say they kept it more or less in tact with the originals so nobody can really get mad from the original. I'll definitely get this when it comes out though since I'm a huge fan and this is just 100x better than the originals in a visual perspective Download if your a fan! You won't be disappointed.

Talking about Frontier games, on their site you can find a FAQ about Elite 4. I hope that they will do a good job on it!

The scenario is time-limited to 45 minutes, but the tutorials aren't.

With no real interest in this, I'm downloading just so I can see what Frontier are capable of, now that Mr. Braben has finally come out from under a rock.

Limited to 45 minutes, according to the write-up on Fileplanet.

Don't know about the features, though.

altho it´s only "inspired" by the original creator it seems like a nice game after playing it a few mins.
However the gfx were a bit too slow on my 2,8 with 1gig ram and gf4. Can´t stand slow gfx on a build game...imagine a huge park...
