TRIBES Demo Update

Beta to be turned off soon on the TribalWar Forums (thanks Frans) has word that the release of the upcoming TRIBES: Vengeance demo will mark the end of the game's beta testing:
I think we're going to send an email out to everyone about this, but we are going to be turning off the multiplayer beta when the multiplayer demo is released. We really want people to convert their servers as quickly as possible and don't want the community to be split.

The demo will not be held exclusively anywhere and we'll be giving it to as many mirrors as possible as soon as possible. In fact, our web team has been experimenting with BitTorrent stuff so we'll likely host a seed for it at launch as well (we did that with the SP demo).

Everyone will need to download the demo - it's roughly the same size as the beta was.

DangerDog try turning down the shadows. I had the same problem and setting the shadows on medium and the rest to max detail fixed it for me.

I've never liked the Renegades mod.

That's one of the reasons I'm still playing Tribes. I discovered it in T1 and when T2 came out, base seemed boring compared to Ren. I'm glad they're doing a TV Ren.

I'm all for the new Tribes game (a worthy successor to Terra Nova: Strike Force Centauri, I hope)
I'm not sure how interested I am in Tribes itself, but if someone does a TN:SFC mod for it (and it must be the very best candidate game yet produced for creating such a mod), I'm so there I'm sure that Tribes owes a lot to TN, so it would be very cool to see it go full circle.

Or hell, if someone just tells me that the T:V single player game is as good as Terra Nova, I'll probably buy it anyway

It's already split between the clans who will never run a server under Win-Duz, and noobs who don't know any better. The lack of a Linux server is going to hurt this game.

The SP demo was fun, but I hope it's not indicative of the complete SP experience, or even the majority of it. I would be hoping for missions, with objectives other than kill everyone. And an in-mission save game feature would be real nice. My expectation is that these things are there, but I'd really like to try them out in a demo.

Yes on both, although I can only prove QuickSave - there are grayed out binds for it in the controls menu.

Well I didnt like T:V very much at the beginning (just like T1 back then) but after playing a few weeks now I like it pretty much, but there are still a lot of flaws that I hope got balanced/changed/removed.

I have given up on waiting for BIS to come back to their senses and do a real ArmA 2 successor.

Good lord the waiting drives me nuts...And yes, Irrational is awesome. I wasnt pleased initially with TV, but once you get use to the physics it is very fun and has great potential for mods.

Wasn't "initially" like 2 weeks ago? The whole Tribes-is-being-whored-out-like-a-cheap-such-and-such thing? What happened?

I'm all for the new Tribes game (a worthy successor to Terra Nova: Strike Force Centauri, I hope), but it's weird seeing someone go all pod people suddenly.

Two biggist things I hope that got fixed is the netcode being somewhat herky jerky, even with the speedhack disabled on the server it would often be not so smooth, miss-registering hits and the horizontal movement when jetting/skiing, I hope they made it not so much a speed penalty for straifing while performing those moves.

11 days till it's in the stores, can't believe it's coming out so soon, IG does rock!

Been playing the beta a lot, and then switching back to Tribes 1 and Tribes 2. I think TV will offer something for both crowds, and after playing TV and then Playing T1, it makes T1 seem as slow as base T2.

Im really interested to know what tweaks will me made and bugs fixed. and yes for a beta its pretty damn stable already.

Yeah, this is professional work from a studio with a great track record. Irrational was the perfect dev for this project.

Definitely getting this on day of release.

I loved the SP Demo. Excellent production design and feel. The lead character had an awful hairstyle but that is easily forgiven with that great gameplay. I have no idea about the story of the full game but as tournaments go these guys got it right and UT, well not so right - but still good.

I wan't that MP Demo NOW!
