Lol, "what BF1942 should have been" is in my opinion, "Call of Duty" :-)

I play more Desert Combat than I do BF1942, and I tried BF Vietnam, but it just does nothing for me. Not to mention that it just feels laggy all the time, regardless of settings.

Anyway, thanks for the info. For realistic WWII gameplay, I'll stick with CoD:UO

yes, I think the only non-realistic element left in is the Engineer's Wrench, which makes for fun gameplay. They've eliminated the Medic class. There is a myriad of new weapons and vehicles, fantastically rendered. The new .65 version really has an epic feel to it.

Like I said, if they had 64 player servers, this mod would rock.

As JM stated, FH takes the historical accuracy approach. Authentic uniforms, vehicles, weapons, etc. It takes out the 'cartoony' of vanilla BF1942.

IIRC, it's billed as "what BF42 should've been."
It's a bunch of small changes to basic gameplay plus new maps and different vehicles--supposed to be more "realistic" I guess. I played a bit of an older release, but I never had time to get into it.

Ok, maybe I'm a dolt, but I can't figure out at all from their website what this mod is about. The screenshots make it look like it could be an expansion of BF1942. If it's a mod, what changed?

I agree, it's very nice. Give the Wolf server a try, they're pushing mid 50's for players and it's full almost all the time.

Played it last night. The new desert maps are exciting! Everything is top notch from new skins and sounds. I have only one complaint about this mod, and that is you don't see enough high performance 64 player servers hosting it. This mod cries out for huge 64 player engagements.

Once again, the password for the .rar files is...
