I dislike consoles as much as the next pc gamer but that is just fucking stupid.

Well, my brother is mad addicted to this game (he's been playing since before launch, he has the japanese client and plays with japenese people) and he said that apparently there was a bug where you weren't getting the right amount of xp in the higher levels, which is why once you hit level 50 or so it just ground to a halt. Apparently now you get like 1.5 times as much, at least.

I dunno though. I couldn't keep up with the people i played with because i don't play a MMO 5 hours a day so i was constantly having to look for new people to group with and that is such a pain that i stopped playing.

The graphics are actually good though. You just have to force on high AF to make the textures stop looking like crap at range and AA (of course) doesn't hurt either. Low character customization was a minus for me though. Then again, I still think SWG has the most customization in how you can look and everyone just wears damn composite armor so they all look the same anyway.

Worlds of Warcraft could not arrive soon enough....

Give Square credit for one thing: this title is a time sink like no other MMOG to date.

I doubt you are missing a lot on this game, unless you just like being screwed from companies starting with S. SE has one thing going for its FFXI Online series, and that is the combat, aside from that the game is not very good at all.

The GUI is HORRIBLE at best, the UI is incredibly tedious and offers almost no customization, the graphics look like something that came from the late 90's, the music is not good, the sounds are terrible (they sound like a console game)... I mean even if this was just a console game I wouldnt be impressed but the fact it is computer along with ps2 makes it even worse.

Oh and CoP came out early for the Japanese (of whom SE continues to show favoritism towards), do yourself a favor if you are thinking about buying FFXI, dont.
