So is the last half of Doom 3 any better then the first half?
No, but the last 25% of the game is.

Thanks for the heads up, sir:)

That hell boss was fecking impossible.... I nuked an hour of my life trying to kill it with everything I had.... then found that upset chaps website... thank feck! And even with knowing how to kill the sonofabitch, he was still no walk in the park... Cyberdemon was too damn easy, that weird hell thing was too damn hard...

Going to get myself that mod sir mentioned and go back with sentry bots.... hell will be a walk in the park with them! Hope they know what to shoot at...:P

Oh, and was there ever a torch to be found once in hell? damm, I so badly wanted my torch there....

mechanical arachnid dude that looked sorta like that that brain thingee from teenaged mutant ninja turtles.

Arachnotron and Krang Yea I was disapointed that Arachnotrons were missing along with a Spidermaster mind, after seeing that VERY cool concept piece of one(made for Doom 3). One of the only things to look forward later in the game is the Hell level and it's boss, which both fucking rock like a death biscuit

the second part of doom3 isnt that good. the cyberdemon was cool, but i was hoping for that mechanical arachnid dude that looked sorta like that that brain thingee from teenaged mutant ninja turtles. but yeah, after i got to the delta complex i just troopered through it to finish the game, not because i was enjoying myself.

DOOM3, i got my copy. what about you?

WHooaah. That game rocked BIGTIME. Wouldn't a multiplayer battle be great? Anyone who has an IPX --> IP converter so we can play it on the net?

I only made it about 10 or 12 hours in before I lost interest... though I may return to finish it when I get bored with all the other stuff I am playing currently. So is the last half of Doom 3 any better then the first half?

Carmack said the game looks good but the best work was done in the later part of it...

Rseman, there's a mod available on planetdoom.com that turns the useless grenade supply into sentry spawns. Each time you throw a grenade, one of the lil blighters appears and wastes imps and such-like for 30 seconds at a time.

Just replayed the Doom 3 Alpha and I must say it still holds up even to the released product(soundwise, it's more atmospheric). Oh how I wish they could've employed some of the great ideas/concepts that were shown in the Alpha, if they could've figued out how to execute them dynamically and not through scripting. One of the rare games where the Alpha/beta shows more promise than the final.

Doom 3 blows. If they would have released a demo before the ship date it's sales would have been much lower.

I doubt that. Most of the gaming public isn't half as jaded, involved, or picky as most of us here are. We're the minority

they funy thing in doom3 is that sometimes you wont take that hard to find hidden armour cuz by doing that 999999 monsters will spawn and you are @ low health. wait...it's not really funny 8(

only thing that kept me playing thru doom3 was that I was looking at the gfx+level design... otherwise killing 999999 monsters in every room is rather tiring

Okay... can someone tell me if this demo has that level where you enable the sentry and go forth and kicketh the crap out of everything?

I'd download it for that, rather than play through again to find where it was.... actually, I have the autosaves from each level still, so does anyone remember what that level was actually called?

Still think it was an awesome game... but like with everything, I've seen it now and want something else.... I never use that line with the better half or kids, of course:P

God, how I miss Terminal Velocity. Such a great game. Take the Jet Fighter series and cross it with Descent. Add cooler enemies and settings.

Terminal Velocity comes on CD-ROM only (the floppy disk version has been discontinued and is no longer available.) This version has everything: 70 Megs of 3D rendered cinematics, SVGA (640 by 480) support, high resolution replacement textures (add 16 times the graphics detail!), the BONUS planet!, eight network player support, and bonus games.

I remember when Wing Commander 3 came out and supported 640x480. My first impression was "holy crap look at the high resolution graphics!" because it was the first game I had that wasn't 320x200 vga(which always struck me as screwed up because it wasn't a proportional resolution). I don't think it even supported hardware 3d at that time, all software.

A warning to all: If you've played the demo, then you've played the game. Dark corridors, monsters leaping from shadows and spawning behind you, punishment for finding extra ammo... that's pretty much all there is to it. It's kind of fun, but almost as repeditive as Halo.

So, who would have bought the full game based on the demo, if the demo came out first?

So could this demo be of any interest to someone who has already played and finished the full game?

Of course, playing this demo will remind you of some of the great, exciting moments of Doom3.
