echo... i found doom3 gameplay quite annoying. I mean, monster closets and armor/ammo traps, the presence of ammo lying about everywhere. The media part of doom3 made such a realistic effort in the sounds / lighting / gfx, but the gameplay was still doom1/2... which is disappointing, for the quality of raw material they had in an engine / gfx,
they could have really made me believe (and care) about the story. (maybe not the doom story)...
look at other popular shooter games out these days (pandora tomorrow, counterstrike, ghost recon, halo)... story, open-ended worlds, interactive environments and intrigue is what will make ppl play games until 4am a lot more than run around shooting things, avoid the monster that appeared behind you and clawed ur bee-hind. I'm looking for combinations of RPG and shooters anymore.
I'm good at click n' kill and the problem solving aspects of games (move the chair onto the table to get the secret gold RTCW, yawn)..
but i want more suspense and story now. And i think other gamers do too...
