Scans? I guess they must be from the upcoming PC Gamer with the Q4 article.

... then again, it's a long way off, so..

How long? I heard in a preview a while back that they were hoping for a end-of-2004 release. Although, that was a while back. I'm guessing it could be out early next year.

Yeah, it really does look very 'doom 3 like' if thats possible.

Sure it's possible.. they are using the same game engine, right?

Well, i'm sure the style lends it self well since it's based on the same engine. I'm sure quake 4 will be signifigantly different than Doom 3. I have a feeling it will be alot more open than doom 3 for one, and the enemies will probably be alot more creative, since they get to play with the "Alien" theme, also the Quake 2 universe is already established, so they'll have alot more possiblity for story, where as doom 3 was a reinvention of a previous game, quake 4 can go wherever it wants, not to mention it's being doen by Raven and not iD

Lol, one could even call it a 'Doom3 clone'...

Wishing the best for Quake 4....

C'mon! They can do a better job than that! Looks like just an expansion for Doom 3.

Yeah, one or two of those look fake to me... then again, it's a long way off, so.. If it's real, some of their Stroggs inspiration seems to have come from the Borg in Star Trek... god, I hope this isn't going to be Star Trek without the official license:(

As for corridor shooters... I'm the biggest fan of UT2K4, but that style of game with per pixel hit detection would be a pain in the ass.... would be chasing and trying to kill one friggin person forever, unless the railgun is in and a one hit, one kill weapon. Some open areas are nice, but some inner areas where you do actually have to fight if you find your opponent are needed, I think.

Interested to see what Valve do with this and Half Life 2... I think it's probably part of the reason CS was added as the main mp element.... will take an entire platoon shooting at one person at a time to kill it with this pixel hit stuff... DooM3 is slow, so it works... but I much prefer Quake 3 or UT2K4, both of which leave me laughing, sweating and feeling like I've run a marathon after a good battle...

Those screenshots look very much like the scanned/cammed magazine pics. I highly doubt they are officially released *screenshots*.

only slight worry is that once again all we have is tight interior shots, the last thing we need is another generic corridor shooter.

Yeah, good stuff. Wonder how they got those shots. Nice to see the D3 engine with more light.

Its only a handful of shots, but man do the first glimpses resemble Doom3. In shot #5, the guy firing looks like a twin of the Doom3 marine!

Holy crap, the first official Quake 4 screens.

Too small for my taste, though
