Out of the Blue

Turns out I was the one that broke my net connection. Without giving the matter enough thought, I plugged in a modular phone cord without a splitter or a DSL filter, and this turned out to be the cause of my connectivity woes. Luckily I finally made the connection, and things returned to normal immediately.

Speaking of returns to normalcy, I believe we finally got the Tickle ad campaign removed (after a couple of failed attempts) after they slipped a decidedly non-work-safe image (bewbs) into one of their personals. Sorry about that.

Still getting them at 6:15 PST 9/16/04. If you are trying to get rid of Tickle ads, they're back. Or do I need to run Adaware on my end to exorcise them from my machine?

I just saw one ad now, Blue... But no boobages in this personal. Not yet being at work, I'm of course disappointed.

Those coffee pod thingies are quite appealing. The Senseo by Philips and other similar models have been available for like a year here, and I'm always drawn to them. I can't stand cold coffee, and I rarely drink more then two cups in the morning and another in the afternoon anyway.
The main disadvantage is that they're really quite expensive, as the article also mentions, easily two to three times the price of normal coffee. At my consumption rate, that's not too bad - bad enough to make me wait to see if some generic pads come up any time soon - but my father drinks way too much coffee and would notice the increased price.

Vedder is everything the Ramones weren't, including pretentious.

Nah I wouldn't consider Vedder pretentious. You can blame the media for that. He was put into the position of spokesman for Gen X in the early 90s by MTV and the media in general. He didn't care for it much.

If you want to see pretentious, look at guys like Scott Stapp with his Jesus Christ poses and Vedder-wannabe voice...he doesn't even sound like that when he talks. He actually likened his band to Led Zeppelin...sorry but Creed is no Led Zeppelin.

I figured Vedder would be by Johnny's side in the end. They were really close friends. Let that be a lesson...even liberals and conservatives can be friends

Sucks that three of the Ramones have died at relatively young ages. I would have liked to gone to some of their concerts but it was a little before my time. It is a shame more and more early punks are dropping but i suppose that is the lifestyle.

That is kind of wierd that people were "at his bedside" when he died considering it happened while he was asleep. Is it common for people to stand around you while you sleep ehe.

I wish I had a buck for every Ramones show I attended. Many a loud drunken night spent with good friends at the shows.

I get a kick out the article as it mentions that Eddie Vedder was "at his bedside" when he died. Vedder is everything the Ramones weren't, including pretentious. bah....

Heh, that's a good one.

Those coffee pod things are cool. I'm more of a tea drinker than coffee (don't even keep any in the house), but enjoy the occasional cup once in a while, that could definitely work for me.

So long, Johnny! Thanks for helping start the punk movement man!
