DOOM Movie Star

The Hollywood Reporter (thanks GameGossip and Frans) has word that a star has been chosen for the upcoming DOOM movie, reporting that Karl Urban will play the DOOM marine. Most recently Karl was in The Bourne Supremacy, after previously appearing in such geek-friendly projects as The Chronicles of Riddick, two of The Lord of the Rings movies, and a bunch of episodes of Xena: Warrior Princess.

"Urban will play John Grimm, the leader of a special ops team that is at the center of the futuristic action-adventure film. When dealing with alien demons, he is forced to cross paths with the organization responsible for his parents' deaths."

His...parents? when...wha..eh..? Who the f*ck cares about the doomguy's parents? So it's not enough that he has to battle the hordes of demons from (alien!) hell, but he has to fight the oh so evil corporate cover up AND, they killed his parents!, well bu-hu, so the doom movie is gonna be a dramafest about the doomguy's feelings and hatred and revenge, and maybe once or twice in the movie an alien demon (thats right, not just demons, but ALIEN demons!) will pop up. I mean...it's doom damnit. I expect very little dialog and if there is any it should be crappy swarzenegger/duke nuken one-liners. The rest should be an R-rated blastfest with lots of gore and gibs....

Who am I kidding...has there ever been a good gamemovie?

Mortal Kombat
Streetfighter
Mario Bros
Dragon VS Dragon
Wing Commander
Tomb Raider
Resident Evil
AVP
and some others I bet...Anyway, all pretty crappy movies right? I bet (sadly) that doom will be as good as Bloodrayne.
