Okay, well, the Giants game worked out about as well as could have been
expected... could be a long season for big blue fans, and a short one for big
blue QBs with that offensive rebuilt offensive line. Oh well, the Eagles have us
outclassed at this point, and at least the kid got his feet wet without getting
killed, so I'll just consider it a building block.

In most of the instances I've heard/read about recently, the vast majority of the accidents were caused by the pedestrians/bicyclists. A lot of kids/young "adults" these days have absolutely no respect for traffic laws (jaywalking in heavy traffic, walking on red lights, riding their bikes irresponsibly, etc.).
This is true, but the motorists are just as bad, if not worse. At least in my neck of the woods, where they completely straddle the sidewalk as they exit parking lots into traffic and pay no mind whatsoever to anyone walking on it. Not to mention ripping through red-light right hand turns - again without paying any heed to pedestrians on the crosswalk. This is made worse here by the fact that many of the intersections have big sweeping curves on each corner, which not only make it possible to turn right on the red at a good 25 mph, but removes the far crosswalk from the driver's forward field of view.
But I agree, we shouldn't need infrared sensors and all that shit on cars. Just one more thing to glitch. If police would actually ticket these people rather than hide in the bushes, looking to nab cars doing 35 in a 30 (on a road that should be 40), it would be less of an issue.
