No thanks, just give me Source, an engine that is perfect in almost every way!

And obviously you have already played the Source engine, and thus know just how fantastic it's going to run, despite the fact that you have a p2-800 and a Matrox 2MB graphics card, right?

Please stop your incessant Valve fanboy trolling until the game is actually released, and you've seen that their engine doesn't run any better than Doom 3 or Farcry did.

Edit : Scottish, do you like ANYTHING these days? Why do you even play FPS games?

What is Raven currently working on. We know Quake 4. What else? They're ALWAYS working on three projects, what's the next? A new Jedi Knight? Soldier of Fortune?

Somebody's gotta know...

Ken, oh Ken, wherefore art thou, Ken?

One of the Doom3 engine games are supposedly having up to 24 player MP. Could this be it? Perhaps it's the still unannounced RTCW2?

Rock climber,

"DOOM3 is collecting dust at my house as I quickly got over the graphics and found the gameplay to be less than inspiring."

Too bad. For me, its not so much about the graphics as it is about what the graphics makes possible. And in that sense, I enjoy the way DOOM 3 looks just like I enjoy the way Aliens, Star Wars or The Matrix looks. Many people remain fans of the visual design of movies for years and years after they've been released. The same thing goes for DOOM 3. I think much of the look and feel of DOOM 3 will be remembered fondly for a long time.

Hexen 2 was, IMO, their finest hour so far. I think that may have been my first FPS, too.

If it's multiplayer is anything like Quake2's it should rock. Quake2 multiplayer was probably the best ever. Threewave CTF, Lithium 2, I spent countless nights playing these games, to the point I played it professionally for a time, won a little money now and again, course I always refused to enter a tourney Thresh was in..

Raven has perhaps the best record for producing top quality and FUN fps ever since Heretic, and it's always used Id's engines for the simple fact that they are the best.

Thinking that the game will probably be out in a year or two.. imagine how far they are going to push the Doom3 engine. I mean it already far surpasses every other one in terms of graphics and capability.. I'm sure it'll be just increadible to see what Raven does with it.

To the guy who said they should use Source because it's perfect in every way. You do realize we don't even have an officially released game to back that up yet? I personally could point out a dousen reasons why it isn't perfect in every way. Can you spell fanboi?

Should be what, a year from Xmas before we see this?

Well, according to a preview by AppleInsider, it is expected to be released late this year.. but we'll probably find out for sure on the 21st.

I dream of long, fun filled nights playing Threewave CTF and STILL HAVING THE GRAPPLING HOOK (it's Quake2 after all). Man that was so fun. I was a CTF junky back then. Same with Quake 1.

Pre-plugging your rag now, PCGamer? That's right, keep trying to sell it. Your days are numbered.

Quake + Raven? Something tells me this is going to kick some ass.

I thought jedi knight II was an excellent game, a "GOTY" or at least close to it. SoF was meant to be pretty good, and plus they have been close to id since hexen or earlier, so they must have a good working relationship with id. In short, i cant think of anyone better.

My main concern is just how much they can improve the networking from doom3. My guess/hope is id worked primarily on the basic engine (rendering, physics etc) with the doom3 game, and kind of tacked on a mp for it - with the idea that the real work on MP for the engine would be done in Quake4.

I mean this in the context of the "doom3" engine product, which will presumably be used for many other games in the coming years, like Q3 was. I rally cant see how they can squeeze a relatively large team based game like the RTCW sequel into the doom3 engine otherwise, even then the bandwidth would be rather expensive for server providers.

While this sounds great in theory I'm a little apprehensive about Raven doing this project. Raven produces enjoyable but completely average games. Nothing really makes there games stand out, they're all worth purchases but never something that makes your jaw drop and scream "GOTY!".

Hey, that PC Gamer cover looks pretty awesome. And ten pages!

I'm excited to finally see some of what's cooking at Raven.

Oh, and it looks like brown is back, if the cover is any indication, but we'll see.
