Acclaim Closings

A story on MCV (thanks Frans) indicates the bad news just keeps getting worse for besieged developer/publisher Acclaim, which looks to be entering its death throes with some closing announcements:
The company earlier this week announced that it was seeking additional funding, but warned that bankruptcy was a possibility. Sadly, that now looks like being the reality.

Yesterday, the Acclaim Texas facility was closed and this morning the publisher’s Manchester studio was shut down with a loss of 130 jobs. Meanwhile, the European head office in Kensington is not answering its phones.

A announcement to NASDAQ is expected this afternoon.

Two people said they liked the first two Turok games. I liked the third one as well, as much, if not more so. I consider them all kind of together in a way. And I even enjoyed Turok: Evolution.
It kind of shocked me when I heard this news. I can't imagine a time without a new Turok game coming out some time or another. Yet somehow it also seems like you knew it was gonna happen. Somehow Evolution seemed like it might be the last. Even the lead designer said it would be nice to move on to something different.
Turok 2 was a great game, but it was greater in concept and art than the actual gameplay, which was mired down by poor framerates and too-few savepoints.
