Acclaim Closings

A story on MCV (thanks Frans) indicates the bad news just keeps getting worse for besieged developer/publisher Acclaim, which looks to be entering its death throes with some closing announcements:
The company earlier this week announced that it was seeking additional funding, but warned that bankruptcy was a possibility. Sadly, that now looks like being the reality.

Yesterday, the Acclaim Texas facility was closed and this morning the publisher’s Manchester studio was shut down with a loss of 130 jobs. Meanwhile, the European head office in Kensington is not answering its phones.

A announcement to NASDAQ is expected this afternoon.

i'm jealous.your machine was the beast compared to the amiga 500 with the half meg addon card for $150 and a second floppy for $85 i had to save my pennies for. the funniest thing about it all is paying $625 for a state of the art u.s. robotics hst modem [that's a mind blowing 19.2k speed folks lol] so when i finally was able to upgrade my 300 baud modem the hst cost almost as much as my puter and i didn't buy a monitor untill commodore was closing its doors and i picked up a refurbed one deeply discounted.cinemaware and microprose always released great stuff for the amiga, ibm, and c64[i never owned atari] back then.
