Anacondas Game

Anacondas: 3D Adventure Game is now available, a freeware, well, adventure game, based on the horror movie sequel. The developer of the project is actually unknown, though the game is built on Enlight's Joan of Arc engine. The 175 MB download can be found on the Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid Website (thanks YiYas), and mirrored on 3D Gamers, FileFront, Gamer's Hell, and Worthplaying.

So what we have here is a game based on a film which by all acounts sucks. Furthermore the game isn't good enough for them to sell - and lets face it there has been some really sucky movie/game tie-ins that have earn't a lot of cash.

So 175mb of suckiness - nah I'll leave it!

@ stuipd movie.

@ game based on stupid movie.

I do need to give Anaconda 2 credit - I am...completely dumbfounded that it not only managed to get mad, but managed to do so and not go directly to video.

In shock,

God dammit...

Hollywood, fuck, the entire film industry for that matter, needs to keep its filthy fucking hooks out of the game industry.

What idiotic company is willing to fund such a piece of shit game? Christ, this does not bode well for the future.

Can you not name one decent movie tie-in game? Not counting Lucasart's Indy Jones Desktop Adventures...

Chronicles of Riddick is an excellent game-movie tie-in. Better than the film, in fact.

It is a really generic, low budget game. Having said that, it is not broken (like so many of these games are) and there was some effort put into it.

I would not suggest any PC gamers download and play it, though. It is really rough, has bad graphics, story is limited by the movie, everything is really basic, inivisible walls all over the place, quick combat, generic NPCs, lots of fog (even with view distance set to max,) etc.

If you have a really low end system or maybe a younger game, I migh suggest this as a purely budget purchase. Otherwise, I would only suggest playing it if you are a die-hard fan of the movie.

Thinking it was a good attempt by a small size developer,
Ray

Yeh I remember the map for the original film. Didn't it have some new monsters? It definitely had the big f-off snake at the end that took a lot of lead to put down.

It probably brought some money in for a mod team, which is no bad thing.

Joan Of Arc was a real fun game using this engine and it looked really nice. This game just looks bad with it and the engine doesn't fit at all with the game's atomsphere.

I remember being really impressed that an ad guy would approve a project like that.... to build not only a map, but the extra monsters (at least 3-4), and I'm pretty sure I never saw another mod come up w/ a monster as large & impressive as the final snake.
