the only time an advertising company is going to get my money by placing ads on the internet through pop-ups, spam, or any other "in-game" advertising is through my cold dead KUNG-FU GRIP.

I never understood why in game advertising hasn't got more prevalent. If you're designing a multiplayer FPS (single player would be trickier) like Quake III, how easy would it be to have a swappable texture for certain segments of the map (a poster, for instance) that servers could substitute with their own design that auto-downloads? Servers aren't cheap to run, and well placed advertising (bill posters in urban settings, for instance, or real adverts at the side of race tracks) could make them more attractive, revenue wise. It'd be like internet advertising.

My head hurts just thinking about the can of worms that would open...

Okay, after seeing the real life faces of the Penny Arcade artist and writer, I feel a LOT better about myself. Those guys are the nerdiest looking dudes I've seen.

They're good guys. Some of the comics are off from time to time, but when they're on, THEY'RE ON.

I really like they way they mix commentary on current events of the industry into their work. If you don't follow the industry closely (or read Blue's every day) you may miss the jokes, but if you do, they're a riot.

Their roasting of Infinium Labs in particular was a great...

edit: I had a chance to meet these guys in Vegas on my last trip out there, but didn't go. The closer I got to the event, the more people I saw in Storm Trooper and Boba Fett outfits, and it kinda freaked me out. I should have gone, as apparently NO ONE showed up at their booth for that show.

Don't try this at home. Don't try this when you're alone. Don't try this at home. You're gonna hurt yourself. http://www.laptopic.com

"BloodRayne is a very viable franchise now. It has definitely made the step up to a full-fledged video game franchise. The Playboy thing is nothing more than just another cool thing we can do with this franchise."

yeah sure. the first game has 67% on gamerankings and was produced on a shoestring budget. they sold the first game entirely on a few clips of "erotic" blood sucking. their webpage featured an almost embarrasing moan. the menu on their current site says it all: "experience her. study her. get her. join her".
